Here’s why this regatta is a game-changer for local sailing events. Held on June 28, the regatta celebrates Antigua Sailing Week and has gained sponsorship from the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority, elevating its status on SESCA’s calendar. Competitors faced challenging gusty winds, expertly navigated by Principal Race Officer Martin Davies, who set a figure-eight course for dynamic racing. After two morning races, sailors enjoyed a barbecue lunch while the Dallaway Steel Pan Band provided lively calypso music. The final race featured a fierce competition between Alan Wright in his Solo and Mike Steele sailing his ILCA 6/Laser Radial. Alan secured victory with a strong performance, finishing first overall, while Mike claimed second. Razvan Adam took third place sailing a full-rigged ILCA/Laser. The event concluded with a prize presentation featuring awards from the Tourism Authority, marking another successful year for the regatta.
