Cyclosporiasis cases are on the rise across the country, often linked to fresh produce—especially during warmer weather. While the current outbreak’s source remains unknown, past outbreaks have tied to bagged salads, cilantro, basil, raspberries, snow peas, and green onions. Frozen or canned produce hasn’t been involved. Travelers to Central/South America, Asia, Africa, or the Caribbean are also at risk. Wash all produce thoroughly under running water, or choose frozen/cooked options for safety. Symptoms—watery diarrhea, cramps, fever—appear within two weeks. Seek medical help if diarrhea persists; treatment is available.
