Today's Guest: Brown University's Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Recreation- Jake Silverman

Our guest today began his journey in collegiate athletics at Syracuse University, graduating in 2008 after serving as a student assistant coach for the defensive line and interning with both the Philadelphia Eagles training camp and Comcast SportsNet. He then built a 14-year career at the University of Pennsylvania, starting with eight seasons in the football program before rising to associate athletics director for operations. Along the way, he earned a master's degree in organizational dynamics from Penn in 2012, oversaw 13 sports programs, managed more than 200 annual events, and served as the athletics liaison for dining, residential services, and 35 active club sports.

He arrived at Brown in April 2021 as Deputy Director of Athletics for Administration, where he quickly made his mark by reshaping relationships with Admissions and Financial Aid, developing a Recruiting and Retention unit, and expanding recreational access for all students — efforts that contributed to Brown Recreation's remarkable 92 percent undergraduate engagement rate in Spring 2024. In 2023, he was elevated to Deputy Director of Athletics for Intercollegiate Programs and Performance, taking on broader leadership of the sport supervisor team and the student-athlete development, wellness, and performance units, while also leading several successful head-coaching searches.

In the summer of 2024, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Recreation, joining the University's Executive Committee and the Ivy League's Senior Leadership group. Most recently, in 2026, he was named to the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse committee, overseeing all intercollegiate and performance programs at Brown across Men's Basketball, Football, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Golf, Women's Soccer, and Men's Hockey. Today's Guest: Coordinator of Athletic Facilities and Events at Penn State- Luke Frontale

From Ivy League arenas to the grandstands of one of college football's most iconic stadiums. From NCAA tournament bids to championship-level event execution on the biggest stages in collegiate athletics — today's guest has built his career at the intersection of sport, strategy, and the kind of behind-the scenes leadership that makes game day magic look effortless.

He's worked the sidelines and operations at powerhouse programs, helped land NCAA regional hosting bids, and served as tournament director for events that define the college sports experience. He's logged hours at venues like Beaver Stadium, the Bryce Jordan Center, and the JMA Wireless Dome — and today, he calls Rec Hall home, where he oversees everything from wrestling mats to gymnastics floors to volleyball courts as part of one of the most storied athletic departments in the country at Penn State.

A former collegiate baseball player — and team captain — he leads the way he played: with preparation, team-first culture, and an obsession with delivering a first-class experience for student-athletes and fans alike.

He holds a Master's degree in Sport Venue and Event Management from Syracuse University, and he's been in the rooms, on the floors, and behind the curtain of some of collegiate athletics' biggest moments.
