概要
Episode 27 - In this episode of Hyperfixation Time, Danny surprises Erin and brings in our friend Amy, who takes us on a deep dive into the rich, expressive world of American Sign Language (ASL).
**Before we begin, we want to be clear: we are not Deaf or hard of hearing, and we’re not experts. This episode comes from a place of curiosity, respect, and a desire to learn, not to speak over the Deaf community or present ourselves as authorities.
With that in mind, Amy guides us through the history of ASL, how its grammar and structure differ from spoken English, and the nuances that make it a fully realized language (not just “English with hand motions,” as we quickly learn). We also explore etiquette, common misconceptions, and some of the ongoing conversations and controversies within and around the Deaf community.
Think of this episode as three friends sitting at the edge of something vast and important, asking questions, getting things wrong occasionally, and trying to understand better as we go.
**FOLLOW US! We will release a historical video of the two of us that will either be cute or really cringe or maybe both, but only WHEN we reach 500 followers on one platform. So please like and subscribe!
