    2026/05/14

On the evening newscasts Wednesday evening, both ABC and NBC evening news anchors were reporting live from Beijing, where the world is watching the two most powerful leaders from the two biggest economies meet to discuss the biggest issues facing the world. So why was CBS evening news anchor Tony Dokoupil in Taiwan? If you listened to his broadcast, he claimed it was for editorial reasons; Taiwan being a major topic of conversation between President Trump and President Xi. According to several media outlets though, turns out, that isn’t the full story. In fact, CBS news reportedly did not secure a visa in time for Dokoupil to enter China, and was forced to scramble for a Plan B. • Appeals Court Halts Texas Man Scheduled To Be Executed TODAY, Will Texas Execute Him Anyway?
    2026/05/14

Death penalty opponents are waiting to see if Texas will proceed with what they say would be an unconstitutional execution. Texas’ Attorney General has appealed to the nation’s highest court to lift a stay on Edward Busby’s scheduled execution for today. There are reports that Texas officials plan to move forward with the execution despite a federal appellate court ruling last week that put a temporary hold on it pending a Supreme Court decision on a separate case. The issue at hand, whether or not Edward Busby is intellectually disabled, which would make him ineligible for the death penalty. Busby was convicted in the 2004 robbery and murder of a retired Texas Christian University professor.
