概要
Managing is science. Leading is art.
Charles Neal joined me on The Leadership Blueprint to talk about what it really means to carry the weight of leadership and the scars that come with it. We call this episode, “Battle Scars of Leadership”. With an extensive background leading transformation across engineering, IT, advertising, and digital technology, Charles’s perspective on servant leadership was powerful.
The DNA of great leadership is service. It's putting your people first. Sometimes that means being the people champion or the defender of culture within your own organization, even when it comes at a personal cost.
- Coach individuals, not collectives. Everyone needs something different.
- Defend your people, even when it costs you politically.
- Embrace the scars. They build resilience and shape who you become.
- Build your tribe. The partnerships you form will carry you forward.
Those scars show true character. Stay authentic. Don't lose yourself in the process of leading others, because you may be destined for greater things down the path.
This conversation was a reminder that the weight we carry as leaders isn't a burden. It's the foundation we stand on.
