あらすじ・解説

Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

  • Remembering one thing from the Sermon on Mount S31e97 Mt5
    2026/07/15

If I could just remember ONE THING from the sermon on the mount! Well here are three candidates:

    1. Mercy: Find somebody who deserves a fistful of JUSTICE and extend a fistful of MERCY instead. It will change the world.
    2. Pure: Being pure is to be unencumbered and READY FOR SERVICE. Gear up. Let's go!
    3. Peacemaking: Ironically, our peace with God is made in the most violent of ways: the Cross. There should be a PEACE DIVIDEND that is seen and demonstrable in your life so you can give voice, and legs to the Peace youhave within you.

Mercy. Purity. Peace. Pick one. Then Follow on YouTube by subscribing.

  • Living a beautiful life S31e96
    2026/07/14

The Sermon on the Mount merits a bit of a review; a 'best of". Right off the bat it calls us to a beautiful life. It wants us to be living our best life in light of the words of Jesus in the beatitudes.

It asks us to be BENT. Meek. Grieved with our sin and relational breach. It is not exactly an advertisement for a spiritual poverty.

Yet, this is the pathway to making things right with God. Listen as we pick all the low hanging fruit from the first half of the beatitudes. We're doing this for you.

  • It fell…and great was the fall of it. S31e95 Mt7:27
    2026/07/13

At the end of Jesus' famous Sermon on the Mount, they were "astonished." That is, they were knocked a bit off-balance by all of this. It is not a bad place to start.

However, just being off-kilter is a bad way to end. There are some cautions in this epic sermon. Don't be that guy who has a great fall. Don't stop at marveling. Believe.

Thank you for walking this with me.
