概要

In Scripture, stillness is often where strength is formed. Jesus withdrew to quiet places to pray. Elijah heard God not in the wind or the fire, but in a gentle whisper.

Hey, y'all! I'm Susannah B. Lewis-- and I'm recording this podcast in my closet. Literally.
Because it's the quietest place in my home. It is my sanctuary. My steady place.

This closet holds what I wear to face the world, but it also holds what no one else sees.

I've stood in here picking myself apart. I've fallen to my knees in prayer. Cried. Surrendered. In this closet, I've eaten chocolate I didn't want to share. I've walked in overwhelmed and walked out restored.

Behind the Closet Door is a weekly podcast for women who feel stretched thin, emotionally scattered or just plain tired-- and who need scriptural steadiness in the middle of real life.

Every Tuesday, we close the door on the noise...

and open our hearts to Him.

Shut the door and come on in.

We all have things that vie for our focus—money, success, relationships. Sometimes, even good things become idols when they overshadow Jesus.

In Mark 10, Jesus asks the rich young ruler to sell everything and follow Him—what's standing in your way? That’s a bold, uncomfortable question, but it’s the key to true freedom.

Our idols promise fulfillment but always leave us disappointed. They control us, distort who we are, and blind us to what really matters. When we put Jesus first, we become more like Him—full of love, peace, and real freedom.

Are you ready to identify and dethrone your biggest idol today? Because only He can truly satisfy your soul.

Are you just a Christian on the outside, or is God's Word really transforming you?
Most of us can quote Scripture — but that’s not enough. True spiritual maturity is about how deeply His Word takes root in our hearts, not just how much we know. I used to call myself Christian, but I was stagnant—living surface-level faith in chevron print pants and Pura Vida bracelets. Until I realized, being rooted in God's Word is what changes us from the inside out.

When we let His Word become living and active — it cuts through our doubts and exposes our true selves. That’s when transformation happens. So ask yourself: what kind of soil is your heart? Are you just bouncing off the surface or bearing fruit?

    It's worth thinking about.

In this episode, Susannah B. Lewis shares personal stories and scriptural truths to help women navigating menopause, mood swings, and aging find stability in Christ. She reminds us that holiness doesn’t mean emotional perfection but choosing gentleness, prayer, and truth in the chaos.

Susannah also tackles the grief layered within this season—the loss of energy, youth, and predictability—and validates that mourning is part of the process. She offers comforting reassurance that God’s purpose in our pain is deepening wisdom, developing endurance, and refining our character. This isn’t the end but an invitation to depend more on Jesus and embrace the sacred transformation happening within.
