    Series: Chiseled: Built by Jesus...

    Series Scripture: Ephesians 2:10

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

    Sermon: Chiseled by the Spirit

    Scripture: Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4; Acts 2:14

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd..."

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

INTRODUCTION: Jesus never told the church to be clever enough, strong enough, or persuasive enough. He told us to wait for power, because the mission ahead would require more than human ability.

    Movements start with movement:

    • Pentecost turns weakness into boldness.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    • Peter preaches with clarity and conviction.

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    • God uses Peter to build the church.

“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”

    ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭41‬ ‭NIV‬‬

CONCLUSION: God does not only heal us for private comfort; He builds us for public usefulness and kingdom impact.

    Series Scripture: Ephesians 2:10

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

    Sermon: Chiseled by Failure

    Scripture: Luke 22:54-62; John 21:15

“Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.” But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said. A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” “Man, I am not!” Peter replied. About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.” Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.”

    ‭‭Luke 22:54-62

“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.””

    ‭‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

    INTRODUCTION: Failure is not final.

    Movements start with movement:

    • Peter overestimates his strength.

Peter replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."

    Luke 22:33

    • Fear exposes what confidence cannot cover.

The seizing him (Jesus), they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.

    Luke 22:54

    • Peter weeps, but does not disappear.

And he went outside and wept bitterly.

    Luke 22:62

    • Jesus restores Peter with love and commission.

CONCLUSION: Shame says, “You are finished.” Jesus says, “Come back, and let Me rebuild you.”

    Scripture Text: Matthew 16:22-23.

"Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!" Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.""

  • Overload Part 3 - Archie Callahan

    Series: Overload

    Resilient Routines

“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”
    - ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It’s impossible to be spiritual without Godly rituals that we routinely practice.

    Practical Steps:

    1. Practice Fellowship

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
    - ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV

    2. Practice the Presence of God

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
    - ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬

    3. Practice Generosity

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”
    - ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As we face the overload of life, let’s remember: by recognizing our reality, reframing our thoughts, and establishing resilient routines, we can find peace and strength through God’s grace.

    Recognize Your Reality

    Sermon Text: Matthew 11:28-30
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Introduction: "In a world where everything feels like too much, let’s discover how to lighten our load and find peace in the chaos."

Psalms 38:4 My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. (NIV)

    Explanation:
Acknowledging our struggles is essential. Many feel overwhelmed by societal pressures and constant connectivity. Recognizing our reality is the first step to healing.

    Practical Steps:

    • Practice Journaling: Encourage the congregation to start a journaling habit to express feelings.
    • Practice Biblical Meditation: Introduce meditation on scripture as a way to focus the mind.

    Psalms 1:1-2
1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. (NIV)

    • Practice Vulnerability: Encourage sharing struggles with trusted friends.

Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (NIV)

Conclusion: "The first step in overcoming overload is to recognize your reality and then invite Jesus into that reality."

  • The Secret to Persistent Prayer - Jeff Hill
    2026/05/03

    May 3, 2026

    The Secret to Persistent Prayer

    Luke 11:5-10 (NIV)
5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. 9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

    2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NIV)
1 As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. 2 For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you,and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

    James 4:1-3 (NIV)
1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

    1) God wants you to ask.

    2) God wants you to ask big.

"Bold prayers honor God and God honors bold prayers." - Mark Batterson

    3) God wants you to ask again.

    4) God wants us to ask now.

You have not because you ask not.
