  • When Your Dream Is an Early Warning System
    2026/07/01
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul, and it’s Wow Wednesday, which is when I find awe-inspiring or surprising stories to share with you. Today I’ve got a couple of cool stories from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Let Your Dreams and Premonitions Guide You. The stories in this book show you how you can use your dreams and premonitions as a kind of GPS for your life. While you’re sleeping, and you’re not distracted by all the sights and sounds of the day, you can actually pay attention to your subconscious and it might reveal helpful things. Or you can believe that your dreams and premonitions are of divine origin, and we have many stories in the book that seem to fall into that category too, as they defy rational explanations! • What It’s Like to Be a Military Family
    2026/06/29
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I’m excited about sharing stories with you from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Celebrating the Spirit of America, our way of participating in the 250th birthday of the U.S. Our new book goes back to our roots as Americans, with stories that showcase our pride in our country, our industrious nature, our creativity and can-do attitude, our kindness. That’s the true spirit of America. And there isn’t anything that exemplifies the spirit of America better than military families, who spend years or even decades with all their family members sacrificing their own wants and needs to what the military needs from them. • Do What You Love
    2026/06/26
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I want to share another couple of stories with you today from our new book about why Self-Care Isn’t Selfish. We’ve been talking about self-care all summer… because what better time than to reorient your life and remind yourself that self-care is not selfish; it’s part of what you have to do to remain a functioning human being. So making a commitment to yourself should be a priority, at least for some amount of time each day or week. And you might say, well I’ll do it later, when such and such thing happens… But when is the time ever going to be right? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • When a Mother's Prayers Are Miraculously Answered
    2026/06/24
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul, and it’s Wow Wednesday. I always try to share awe-inspiring or surprising stories with you on Wednesdays, so I went back to one of our older books and found a couple that I really love from one of our past bestsellers, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles and the Unexplainable. That book is filled with stories of miracles, and healing, and insightful dreams, angelic intervention, divine timing, and just plain cool coincidences. And there are also lots of stories about answered prayers, including two very magical ones that I’m going to share with you today about a couple of mothers who prayed for their children and pulled off miracles. • Getting to Know Dad and Find Forgiveness
    2026/06/22
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I’m pleased to share new stories with you from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Let It Go, which is our latest best-selling self-help book. I didn’t really understand the power of forgiveness to change my life until I started doing this editor-in-chief job at Chicken Soup for the Soul 18 years ago. I always thought that the word “forgiveness” meant that you were excusing the person who hurt you, saying that it was okay. But it turns out that “forgiveness” doesn’t mean that. What it actually means is that you have decided not to keep reliving all the negative feelings associated with whatever bad thing happened to you. You may even come to understand WHY it happened and what drove the other person to act that way, which enables you to NOT take it personally. Because it was never really about you. It was about themselves. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

And, also, America as the land of opportunity, a place that welcomed hard-working immigrants. A land of kindness too, and one where we’re aware of what unites us way more than what divides us. Like how things were after 9/11 We were one big nation then. Learn more about your ad choices. 2026/06/15
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I’m excited to share more stories with you from our latest humor book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: I Can’t Stop Laughing. You know, I read the trade press about what’s going on in publishing, so I know what people are buying and reading these days. And what they’re looking for is light reading, entertainment, sunshine in their days. So I feel like this new book, which is already doing so well in stores, is filling a real need. I think it’s something like our sixth humor book in the last six years, and we have more coming next year too. We’ve got stories from people who make fun of themselves, tell stories on their family members and friends and colleagues, share their most embarrassing moments, and also share some great anecdotes about their cats and dogs. After all, pets can be so funny. So today I’m sharing a couple of stories about dogs in an episode called What Has the Dog Done Now? Learn more about your ad choices.
