After experiencing night sweats, chills, and severe chest pain, Shawn went to the ER where a chest X-ray revealed a lung “mass,” raising fears of cancer and possible tuberculosis; after five days in isolation and testing, he was diagnosed with a lung abscess treated successfully with IV and months-long antibiotics.

The health crisis exposed how being reactive and overworking while renovating the farm harmed his mind, body, and spirit, prompting him to ask how to live more proactively. Shawn renovated the barn into an upscale gathering space and invites listeners to seasonal workshops aligned with the spring equinox, summer solstice, fall equinox, and winter solstice in 2026 to set intentions, reflect, and grow through “the magic of listening,” urging people to choose proactive change before dramatic life events force it.
