The siege of Elastra has begun. In this Daggerheart Actual Play, the Radiant Empire faces its greatest challenge yet: a city that refuses to forget its old gods. This grimdark high-fantasy campaign continues as the Fourth Host moves from open warfare to a high-stakes stealth mission and a desperate diplomatic gamble.

The Mission:

While a diplomatic envoy led by Chaplain Garren marches toward the city gates to demand surrender, a darker, secret mission unfolds in the shadows. Following a cryptic vision of the ocean’s depths, Oro and Cassie plan to infiltrate the city to find and "decapitate" the unholy Choir.

Accompanied by the poet Calliope and the historian Annelise, the group must navigate interpersonal tensions and the ghosts of their past training. How much blood is required for the Emperor’s "grace"?

The System:

We are playing Daggerheart, the new tabletop RPG (TTRPG) system from Darrington Press. Daggerheart is a high-fantasy, narrative-focused tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) from Darrington Press, Critical Role's game publishing arm, co-designed by Spenser Starke. Launched into open beta in late 2022, it features a "Duality Dice" mechanic with two d12s (Hope and Fear) and a dedicated card system. The game, which aims to blend robust combat with collaborative storytelling, is often seen as a competitor to Dungeons & Dragons and is noted for its approachable rules and player-focused design.
