With just weeks to go until the tournament kicks off, FIFA is facing serious questions about whether their grand promises are going to be kept. Hotels remain under-booked, tickets unsold, and travelers unconvinced — leaving the world's most-watched sporting event at risk of falling short of its most ambitious expectations. FIFA's own president Gianni Infantino claimed "every match is sold out" back in February — a claim the organisation walked back only days later. The North American bid initially promised tickets available for as little as $21 — the cheapest ticket is now priced at $60, with most costing at least $200 for matches involving higher-ranked teams.
