This week, we’re looking at summer camp movies, exploring the chaotic energy, nostalgia, and sharing our memories from back in the days.

    The Lineup:

Meatballs (1979): Bill Murray’s first collaboration with Harold Ramis, following a group of misfit campers and their laid-back counselor, "Tripper."

Wet Hot American Summer (2001): A low-budget cult spoof of 70s/80s camp films focused on the counselors.

Dirty Dancing (1987): A look at the Catskills resort culture and the real-life Borscht Belt camps that defined family summers.

Meatballs 4 (1992): The final entry in the franchise.

Not So Jennifer Aniston Movies - Do You Even Binge? Ep 57

This week, we’re looking at Not So Jennifer Aniston movies, exploring roles where she moved away from her usual persona to play complex characters at a crossroads in life. While a massive TV star, her best work is often found in these lower budget, raw performances.

    The Lineup:

Friends with Money (2006): A look at four friends where Olivia (Aniston) navigates life after quitting her teaching job, working as a maid, and feeling lost compared to her wealthy peers.

The Good Girl (2002): A comedy-drama about a bored, small-town discount store clerk who strikes up an affair with a younger, troubled coworker.

Cake (2014): A role that earned Aniston Golden Globe and SAG nominations, playing a woman struggling with chronic pain and opioid addiction following a tragic accident.

Office Space (1999): A cult classic about office workers who hate their jobs and hatch a plan to skim money from their company.

Wanderlust (2012): A story about a Manhattan couple who, after losing their jobs, decide to abandon their lives to live on a rural commune.

    In this episode:

Career Trajectory: We discuss why Melissa McCarthy successfully transitioned to a movie star after Bridesmaids, while Aniston—despite high-profile roles like Bruce Almighty, We’re the Millers, and Horrible Bosses—remains primarily defined by her television success.

The "Crossroads" Archetype: We break down her best performances, focusing on characters dealing with major life transitions: the uncertainty of Friends with Money, the complex relationships in The Object of My Affection, the marital boredom of The Good Girl, the workplace dissatisfaction in Office Space, and the deep trauma and addiction explored in Cake.

Not So Jack Black Movies - Do You Even Binge? Ep 56

This week, we’re looking at "Not-So-Jack-Black" movies—exploring the roles where he stepped away from his usual persona to play complex, desperate, and true-to-life characters.

    The Lineup:

Bernie (2011): Richard Linklater’s dark, mockumentary-style film based on the true story of Bernie Tiede, a beloved Texas funeral director who murdered the town’s wealthiest, meanest widow.

The D Train (2015): A cringe-comedy where Jack Black plays a high school reunion committee chair who spirals out of control while trying to recruit the school's most popular guy.

The Polka King (2017): A biopic of Jan Lewan, the real-life Polish American polka legend who traded his musical career for a massive Ponzi scheme.

    In this episode:

Bernie: We break down the real-life murder in Carthage, Texas, the town's strange defense of their local killer, and the wild legal aftermath that eventually led to a high-profile resentencing.

The D Train: We discuss the catastrophic lies that lead to a "dream" trip to L.A., the resulting fallout at the reunion, and why this film became one of the biggest box-office flops of all time.

The Polka King: The rise and fall of Jan Lewan. We look at how he scammed 400 investors out of nearly $5 million, how a pageant bribe and a tragic bus crash exposed the fraud, and his journey to federal prison.
