The presenter discusses the different ways the financial and spiritual paradigms often influence how we rate our worth as human beings. Humans often believe their worth depends entirely on how well they measure up to their financial and spiritual obligations. When they do not perceive that they measure up, such as how their peers measure up, they may become increasingly self-critical and judge themselves as being "insufficient" or "inadequate." When this occurs, even though the measuring stick is entirely a human concoction and fabrication, people may believe it is a real measuring stick and be left feeling ongoing shame until changes can be made. The challenge, therefore, becomes to dismiss the artificial, contrived truths instead of living your life as a prisoner to them and to prioritize the task of becoming self-realized, which is effectively stolen when you are led to believe these other things matter.
