概要

With Consultant Paramedic Mark Faulkner

In this first episode of The Trauma Continuum: From Scene to Survival, we begin where every major trauma journey starts — at the scene of injury.

We follow the early care of Darren, a pedestrian struck by a heavy goods vehicle, through the eyes of Consultant Paramedic Mark Faulkner. Drawing on extensive frontline and leadership experience, Mark explores the critical decisions made in the first minutes after injury and how prehospital care shapes everything that follows.

This episode covers:

  • Scene assessment and early risk recognition

  • Prehospital decision-making under pressure

  • Triage, packaging, and transport choices

  • Communication with receiving trauma centres

  • How paramedics integrate into the wider trauma system

This conversation sets the foundation for the series, highlighting how high-quality prehospital care is pivotal to survival and long-term outcome.
