概要

In Episode Three of Trauma Continuum: From Scene to Survival, we move into the emergency department as Dr Harriet Tucker, Emergency Medicine consultant at St George’s Hospital, London, leads the trauma team through the resuscitation of a critically injured patient.

Harriet takes us inside the realities of major trauma resuscitation — from the importance of the pre-hospital pre-alert and activation of a Code Red, to managing multiple life-threatening injuries through structured teamwork and rapid decision-making. Using Darren’s case, she explores how trauma teams maintain situational awareness, perform concurrent assessment, and decide whether a patient should go directly to theatre, CT, or interventional radiology.

This episode reveals how order is created from chaos in the resus room, and how early leadership, communication, and system-level preparedness are central to saving lives.
