概要
In this episode of Trauma Continuum: From Scene to Survival, we join Cosmo Scurr, consultant with London’s Air Ambulance, at the roadside following a devastating high-energy collision.
Cosmo takes us through the critical first minutes after arrival on scene — how air ambulance teams prepare en route, how they work alongside paramedic crews, and how rapid assessment and early decision-making shape everything that follows. Using Darren’s case, he explores the priorities in managing a shocked polytrauma patient, including haemorrhage control, analgesia, airway considerations, and deciding when — and where — to transport the patient.
This episode offers a rare insight into pre-hospital trauma care at its most challenging, where advanced interventions, teamwork, and judgement under pressure lay the foundations for survival long before the hospital doors.
About the series
The Trauma Continuum follows a single patient’s journey through the trauma system, with each episode focusing on a different professional perspective — from prehospital care and emergency medicine through surgery, critical care, and rehabilitation.
