    Passage: 1 Peter 4:10-11

    Preacher: Dr. Scott Hanberry

Series: Serve: Saved to Serve, Called to Care, Sent to Share

    Detail:

Big Idea: God has uniquely gifted every believer to serve other's faithfully and steward His grace for His glory.

    1. Every believer has been given a gift.

SPIRITUAL GIFT - A God-given ability empowered by the Holy Spirit to build up the body of Christ and advance God's purposes.

    2. Every gift is mean to serve others.

    3. Every gift is a stewardship of God's grace.

    4. Every gift should be used for God's glory.

    Taking It Home

    • What gift has God entrusted to you, and how are you using it to serve others? Every believer has received a gift-discover it, develop it, and deploy it.
    • Where is God calling you to serve right now? Don't wait for the perfect opportunity. Look for a need and take the next step of obedience.
    • Who get the glory from your service? Examine your motives and serve in a way that points people to Christ, not yourself.

"So that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 4:11

  • The Motive for Serving
    2026/06/16

    Jun 14, 2026

    Passage: Mark 10:35-45

    Preacher: Dr. Scott Hanberry

Series: Serve: Saved to Serve, Called to Care, Sent to Share

    Detail:

Big Idea: True service flows not from a desire for status, but from a Christlike heart that seeks to give rather than be served.

    (1) A self-Centered Motive Seeks position (vv. 35-40)

    (2) A Worldly Motive Creates competition (vv. 41-44)

    (3) A Christlike Motive Seeks Sacrifice (v. 45)

    A. Jesus Came to serve

    B. Jesus Came to sacrifice

TAKING IT HOME & WALKING IT OUT

    1. When I serve others, do I secretly desire recognition, appreciation, or influence in return?

    2. What is one practical way I can serve someone this week without expecting anything back?

    3. How does remembering Christ’s sacrifice on the cross change my attitude toward serving others?

Challenge: This week, find one unseen act of service. Do it quietly, do it joyfully, and do it solely for the glory of Christ.

  • Cultivating the Noble Art of Bowing Low
    2026/06/16

    Jun 07, 2026

    Passage: John 13:1-17

    Preacher: Dr. Scott Hanberry

Series: Serve: Saved to Serve, Called to Care, Sent to Share

    Detail:

Cultivating the Noble Art of Bowing Low

    John 13:1–17

    (1) True Service Flows From Love. (Vs 1)

    (2) True Service Requires Humility. (Vss. 3-5)

The greatest obstacle to serving is Pride.

    (3) True Service Requires Receiving Grace. (Vss. 6-11)

    (4) True Service Is an Example to Follow (Vss. 12-15)

What does foot washing look like today? It looks like:

    • Encouraging someone who is struggling.

    • Serving in areas nobody notices.

    • Helping without being asked.

    • Meeting practical needs.

    • Listening when others need someone to care.

    • Giving time, energy, and resources for the benefit of others.

The towel may look different. The principle remains the same.

    (5) True Service Leads to Joy. (Vss. 16-17)

TAKING IT HOME & WALKING IT OUT (Application Questions)

    1. Where is God calling me to pick up the basin & towel?

What opportunity to serve have I been overlooking?

    2. Who can I intentionally serve this week?

How can I show the love of Christ in a practical way?

    3. What attitude needs to change in my heart?
