Long ago, a fierce war erupted between the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth. Caught in the middle was the Bat, who possessed both wings and fur, leaving her unsure which side to join. She hatched a plan to remain neutral and only join whichever side appeared to be winning. When the birds gained the upper hand, she used her wings to convince them she was a bird. However, when the beasts took the lead, she pointed to her leathery skin and fur to claim she was a mammal. This deceptive game continued until the birds and beasts finally declared peace. Upon discovering her duplicity, the leaders—the Eagle and the Lion—banished her from the sunlit world for her lack of loyalty. To this day, the bat is the friend of neither bird nor beast, forced to hide in dark caves and fly only at night when others sleep. The story serves as a reminder that those who lie to everyone will eventually find themselves with no friends at all.
