  • S2E5: Season 2 Episode 5 Kira J Part 1
    2026/04/02

Kira J is a multi-instrumentalist, who brings her own style to each song she produces. In this episode Kira shares her fantastic songs and what inspired her work like ‘Winter in Budapest’ and ‘Lassiter’s reef’. And I am glad to know why there was a place called Lassiter’s in Neighbours.

Kira is an award winning songwriter and last year had 5 songs short listed in 5 different categories of the Australian Songwriting Competition! Part 1 explores Folk Festivals and how Kira has found being short listed and winning at Maldon Folk Festival and I try and make jokes about Port Fairy.

Listen to hear the different influences that have contributed to make Kira the amazing, funny musician she is today! Including being lucky to have a Dad being in a folk band back in the day.

This is another inspirational episode that can change your life too.

I am sorry it took so long to get this episode out, but I hope you enjoy part 1 of Kira J’s story. I feel so privileged to be able to bring this episode out and I hope you enjoy listening to Kira’s story and music as much as I have spent so much time with her in person and whilst editing this.

  • S2E6: Season 2 Episode 4 Geoff Berry Part 1
    2025/12/31

    Commentary Podcast

Part 1 of this episode is dedicated to Richard Moffat; because I did not mention him in my favourite, inspiring, supportive radio presenters from back in the day on Triple R.

Where Art meets Post Punk is how Severins formed out of the early 90s. Where there was a boundary they wanted to push it and now 30 years on, you may hear if this perspective has changed..

The podcast touches on cancer and so if you are feeling a bit sad maybe catch part 2, or jump past the Ange-fest talkfest. It starts around 18m50s to 22m01s.

In Part 1 of Episode 4 Geoff Berry and I talk about the early formation of Severins after Gerry Sonts Tartan Hotpants went missing. If you don't know who Gerry Sont is, you might find out in this episode.

We also explore Sub-Terrain a venue Geoff ran in the late 90s that hosted some of the best unknown talent in Melbourne, including a moment about our favourite Melbourne pianist, Julitha Ryan.

You can also find out a few things more like which moment in time music first grabbed Geoff's attention.

Also sorry for the bad host, laughing, you find out why I laugh or it makes more sense halfway through the episode.

  • Season 2 Episode 3 Yolanda Ingley II Part 1
    2025/12/03

    Music Commentary Podcast.

This episode is dedicated to Steve Dagg.

Yolanda Ingley II has a story of migration, Australia and how women still are the back bone of successful men at the detriment to themselves and their talents. It is hard to find many men that would do the reverse.

Warning: We swear in this episode.

We all need to thank the wonderful Steve Dagg for bringing Yolanda out of the kitchen and into our speakers.

Yolanda has a voice to remember. A talent nearly lost to time and I wish everyone knew her songs.

If you ever think you are too old please listen, if you are sacrificing your soul for others maybe Yolanda can help you dream for more.

A story of how music can change paths, bring love and sorrow.

But it's better to be blue and have loved than not love at all.

I am so thankful for Billy Abbott from Season 1 Episode 1 for getting me in contact with Yolanda and being an awesome friend, like I am lucky to know him and have his support for this show and personally.

As usual I hope you like listening as much as I have enjoyed producing this episode.
