Tales of history and policing in and around Ogden City, Utah. From the railroad junction population explosion to the modern day. Electric Alley in all its shady glory and the evolution of 25th Street. A deep dive into the history of those who’ve walked Ogden’s streets and has their stories buried in its history. We are dusting off the stories, the events of Ogden’s past and in doing so, shaking the hands of these people who made Ogden the unique city that it is. We do exhaustive research to bring you these stories in the vernacular and parlance of the newspapers and documents written at the time.

We read directly from these articles and documents verbatim, and we do this because it is important to keep an unfiltered view of history. In doing so, we might repeat words or situations that may be offensive to the listener. We ask that you understand that we are trying to bring you the history as it was, good or bad, offensive, or not. It doesn’t represent the opinions of anyone at the Junction City Justice Podcast, it represents the person who wrote at the time it was written. Our view is that history is what it is and we will bring it to you unfiltered. We do not represent any law enforcement agencies, officially or unofficially. Our opinions are ours and history is what it is.

Now, sit back and enjoy!

JUNCTION CITY JUSTICE PODCAST – SUMMER SHORTS

"Tim Dyer at the Battle of Cape Esperance"

Before he spent thirty-three years protecting the streets of Ogden as a police officer...

Before he became a respected member of his community...

He was a sailor in a war that would shape a generation.

    October 11th, 1942.

The waters off Guadalcanal were black as coal. American and Japanese warships stalked one another through the darkness, searching for the first sign of an enemy silhouette.

Aboard the light cruiser USS Boise, a young sailor named Time Dyer stood ready.

What followed would become one of the fiercest naval engagements of the Pacific War—the Battle of Cape Esperance.

The USS Boise would charge into the fight against overwhelming odds. Shells screamed through the night. Fires erupted. Men were killed at their stations. Yet somehow, the battered cruiser survived and helped turn the tide against the Imperial Japanese Navy.

For Tim Dyer, the battle was more than a page in a history book.

It was a night of fear.

    A night of courage.

A night he would carry with him for the rest of his life.

In this Summer Shorts episode of the Junction City Justice Podcast, we follow the remarkable journey of an Ogden police officer whose story began long before the badge—on the deck of a warship fighting for survival in the South Pacific.

This is the story of WWII veteran Tim Dyer.

    A sailor.

    A survivor.

    A police officer.

And a witness to one of World War II's most dramatic naval battles.

Our Season Finale! Behind the neon glow of Ogden's infamous 25th Street stood one of the city's most notorious figures: Rose Davies. To some, she was a successful madam who built an underground empire in the shadows of postwar Utah. To others, she represented a darker reality hidden behind the myths of vice, freedom, and easy money.

In this episode, we explore the story of Rose Davies and the Rose Rooms, separating legend from history while examining what life may have truly looked like for the women who worked there. From police raids and political controversies to the everyday realities of prostitution in mid-century Ogden, this story is about power, exploitation, survival, and the uncomfortable truths often left out of the romanticized versions of the past.

Join us as we step through the doors of the Rose Rooms and into one of the most controversial chapters in Ogden's history.

We've said it before on this show, but whichever way you look at it, just as the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC will never be complete, so too will this episode never be complete. We've updated some of the stories to pay tribute to those that we've lost and we are privileged to remind you of those whose shadows we stand in. Welcome to Police Week 2026.
