Rachel Petty is back to help us put these communication principles into practice. From leading volunteers to navigating conflict, parenting, and strengthening your closest relationships, the goal is to give you practical tools to communicate with greater kindness, clarity, and confidence.

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself thinking about this conversation long after the episode ends.

Rachel Petty from Kathleen Edelman's "I Said This, You Heard That" team joins us to unpack how understanding temperament can completely transform the way we communicate. Leaders, have you ever felt like you needed someone to talk to but there was no one you felt you could confide in? Maybe you're wrestling with a difficult decision, looking for fresh ideas, or simply wondering if anyone else understands the weight you're carrying. Who do you go to when your board is tired too? What if one conversation with another leader could save you hours of frustration, provide resources you didn't know existed, or simply remind you that you're not alone?

In this episode, we're talking about why every homeschool leader needs connection beyond their own board and how community with other leaders can make this journey worth it!

  • Episode 148: The Difference Between a Leader and a Person in Charge
    2026/06/11

When you think of a leader, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Someone who is charismatic? Someone who can take charge? Maybe someone who seems to have it all together or is exceptionally smart?

We often mistake these qualities for leadership. While they can be helpful, they don't define a leader. True leaders come in all shapes, personalities, and backgrounds.

When we look at Scripture, we see leaders who were bold, leaders who were hesitant, leaders who were gifted communicators, and leaders who felt completely inadequate. What made them effective wasn't their personality or natural ability—it was their willingness to trust God, follow His leading, and faithfully serve others.

In this episode, we're going to explore three biblical characteristics that set great leaders apart.

  • Episode 147: Scholarship Funds - Can Your Co-op Afford to be Generous
    2026/05/29

A listener recently asked us a question that many homeschool co-ops eventually face:

What do you do when a family wants to participate… but simply can’t afford the fees?

Should co-ops offer scholarships or benevolence funds? If they do, how do you decide who receives help? Where does the money come from? And how do you create a system that is both compassionate and sustainable?

If your co-op has ever wrestled with balancing generosity and responsibility, this conversation is for you.

    Bible verse: Galatians 6:2

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
