As the event in Miami and this season come to a close, what top lessons should we take from this community of influential leaders, and what can listeners do to shape the future of the Western Hemisphere? In this episode, Adrienne Ross takes us directly to the main stage at Florida International University’s Hemispheric Security Conference to look at how diplomacy and business align throughout the hemisphere and what policies are succeeding. Together, with a collection of different voices, she speaks with U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Leandro Rizzuto Jr., and then she dips into a panel discussing migration, moderated by FIU’s Inga Trauthig and featuring Gil Guerra, a senior policy analyst at the U.S.-based Niskanen Center; Betilde Muñoz-Pogossian, a senior advisor to the secretary-general of the OAS; and Adam Isacson, the director of defense oversight at the Washington Office on Latin America. Then Adrienne explores the legacy of the conference and what comes next with Mario Montoto, the president of the conference’s co-host, the Argentine TAEDA Foundation. Plus, Shlomi Dinar, the dean of FIU’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, shares how the lessons gained in Miami inspire and equip our next generation of leaders. For more details about FIU’s 11th Annual Hemispheric Security Conference, check out the Jack D. Gordon Institute’s website and watch complete discussions straight from the event’s main stage on its YouTube channel.
