Yo Delta Dynasty! Welcome back to MLB Daily Delta. I am Aaron Jolly, and this is your Opening Day fantasy roundup. Yesterday was the first full slate of the 2026 season — eleven games, twelve hours of baseball, and more fantasy-relevant information than we have had since draft day. • Opening Day 2026: Max Fried's Gem, Skenes' Disaster, Chourio's Hand - Day One Reactions
    2026/03/26
Yo Delta Dynasty! Welcome back to MLB Daily Delta. I'm Aaron Jolly — and welcome to Day One of the daily show. Spring training is officially dead. The draft is officially closed. The 2026 season is officially alive. Opening Night is in the books. Opening Day is underway right now. And we have a fully loaded reactions episode for you — everything that matters from the first 24 hours of the fantasy baseball season, every injury that changes your roster today, and every storyline you need to track heading into the first full weekend. Opening Night recap: Max Fried tossed 6 and one-third scoreless innings for the Yankees, looking every bit the ace. Aaron Judge went 0 for 5 with four strikeouts — do not overreact. Jazz Chisholm Jr. stole the first base of the 2026 season. Paul Skenes was chased in the first inning, allowing five runs in two-thirds of an inning. But do not overreact — two runs were unearned due to Oneil Cruz defensive mistakes. Hold if you drafted him. JJ Wetherholt made his MLB debut batting leadoff for the Cardinals — first rookie to do that since 1949. Immediate waiver wire add if available. Kevin McGonigle debuted at third base, not shortstop. Update your eligibility expectations. Jackson Chourio placed on 10-day IL with fractured left hand. 2-4 week timeline. Activate IL slot, identify replacement, but do not drop him. Injury updates: Gavin Lux (Rays) on IL with shoulder impingement. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (D-backs) on IL with knee issue. Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Clarke Schmidt all out for Yankees. Tonight's watch list: Tarik Skubal vs Padres, Cardinals-Rays (Wetherholt's at-bats, Helsley save chance), Zac Gallen vs Yamamoto. This is MLB Daily Delta. Day one is in the books. 186 days to go. Keywords: opening day 2026, max fried, paul skenes, jackson chourio, jj wetherholt, kevin mcgonigle, ryan helsley, injury updates, waiver wire, fantasy baseball, mlb daily delta, opening day reactions, aaron judge, jazz chisholm, oneil cruz, gavin lux, lourdes gurriel, gerrit cole, tarik skubal, zac gallen, yoshinobu yamamoto, rookie debut, injured list, fractured hand, daily fantasy baseball, season preview, opening night, cardinals, yankees

  • Ryan Helsley: The Most Underrated Elite Closer - 47 Saves, 1.94 ERA, 99.6 mph Fastball
    2026/03/25
Yo Delta Dynasty! Welcome back to MLB Daily Delta. I'm Aaron Jolly, and we are on to Closer No. 2 in the Saves and Closer Targets segment — and this one is the most underrated elite closer on the entire board. Today's player is Ryan Helsley of the St. Louis Cardinals — a 30-year-old right-hander who in 2025 posted 47 saves, a 1.94 E-R-A, a 0.88 whip, and a 36.2 percent strikeout rate, finishing as the consensus second-best closer in fantasy baseball behind only Emmanuel Clase — and who is currently being drafted two full rounds after Clase despite a statistical profile that is almost identical. 47 saves — second-most in the National League. A 1.94 E-R-A — top five among all qualified relievers. A 0.88 whip — top three. A 36.2 percent strikeout rate. A 2.11 expected E-R-A. A 2.04 F-I-P. The underlying data is not just supporting the surface line — it is saying the 1.94 E-R-A was actually slightly unlucky. His four-seam fastball averaged 99.6 miles per hour in 2025 with 18.4 inches of induced vertical break — a rising-fastball profile that generates swing-and-miss at the top of the zone. His whiff rate on the four-seamer was 38.7 percent. He pairs that with a slider at 89 miles per hour generating a 47.2 percent whiff rate. Clase is going in the range of picks 18 to 25 overall. Helsley is going in the range of picks 45 to 60 overall. That is a 25-to-35 pick gap between two closers who posted nearly identical statistics in 2025. ZiPS projects Helsley for 44 saves, a 2.15 E-R-A, a 0.91 whip, and a 35.1 percent strikeout rate. Steamer is nearly identical — 43 saves, 2.18 E-R-A. Razzball has him as the second-ranked closer in baseball with an A-D-P of 48 overall. This is MLB Daily Delta; I'm Aaron Jolly. With Ryan Helsley, your delta is simple: do you trust two consecutive fully healthy seasons, 91 saves over those two years, a 99.6-mile-per-hour fastball with an 18-inch rise, and the second-best closer profile in baseball at picks 45 to 60? Keywords: ryan helsley, st louis cardinals, closer, saves, 99.6 mph fastball, fantasy baseball draft, relief pitcher, rising fastball, roto strategy, adp 45, third round, fourth round, underrated, elite reliever, cardinals bullpen, draft strategy, saves category, value pick, strikeout rate, era whip, closer rankings, fantasy baseball 2026, adp value, elite closer
