We're back at the half way point of the season, so here are my biggest surprises & disappointments of the season so far. Let's get into it...

Major league baseball has be proposing new changes to the game left and right lately. With a new CBA negotiation underway and predictably relentless push for a Salary Cap imminent, the downtrodden billionaires decided it was the perfect opportunity to overhaul the amateur draft as well. There was a lot in the proposal, so I'll dive deep on every point and give you my two cents.

Mayday Update is back! The Home run Derby is changing, taking away the time format and bringing in a “per swing” format. The Mariners are taking on a new piggyback plan. The list of the top five trade candidates has come out, and Joe Ryan has at least 50% chance of being traded.

Bat tracking metrics can be very overwhelming BUT they are a big and important part of the game. Baseball Savant recently dropped a new evolution of bat tracking metrics which includes at least 6 new metrics. Between missed timing and missed distances, Mike Petriello joins the show to discuss how these metrics can change the game.

It’s time for Mayday Update! Anthony Volpe is optioned down to the minor league by the New York Yankees following rehab. The MLB is planning on expanding from thirty teams to thirty two teams in the near future following a potential bargaining deal. Plus, the five BIGGEST storylines to watch throughout May.

Have the Colorado Rockies ACTUALLY figured out the whole pitching thing?? They’re now going under a pitching change and focusing on transforming the roster. Will this new regime help them team? Plus, the Dodgers have found the solution to how so many pitchers get injured.

Recently, the Boston Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora and five coaches. This becomes the earliest a manager has been let go in-season since 2018. The Red Sox are currently having a not-so-great season, will these firings help or harm the team more? What does the future look like for the team?

The season has been INSANE so far. Jackson Merrill robs Julio Rodriguez of a two-run home run and then hits a walk-off double, giving the Padres their seventh straight win. While Shohei Ohtani may not be hitting, he is on fire with his pitching. In a game against the Mets, he throws 10 strikeouts helping the Dodgers secure an 8-2 win. Ben Rice has the best stats in the MLB right now, so why hasn’t he been in the Yankees’ starting lineup for the past few games? Plus, The Mets trade Richard Lovelady and Shea Langeliers hits the longest home run of the season.
