  • NYPD’s Strategic Response Group To Be Rebranded NOT Disbanded -Mamdani Reality Check
    2026/05/05

In this episode of New York’s Finest: Retired & Unfiltered, we break down the growing reports that the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) may be rebranded rather than dismantled despite campaign promises.

    What changed?

During the campaign, Zohran Mamdani pushed rhetoric around dismantling SRG. But now, governing reality appears very different. Alongside Jessica Tisch, City Hall continues to rely heavily on SRG’s capabilities to maintain order across New York City.

    In this episode, we discuss:
Is SRG actually being rebranded instead of disbanded?
The political strategy behind a potential name, uniform, and training overhaul
How NYC leadership balances campaign promises vs real-world policing
The role SRG continues to play in crowd control, protests, and public safety
Whether this is policy reform — or political optics

There are growing questions about whether this move is a substantive change or simply a public relations shift aimed at reshaping perception while keeping the same operational backbone in place.

When major incidents unfold, will anything actually change?

️ This is the conversation others won’t have.
Raw, unfiltered, and grounded in real NYPD experience.

  • President Trump Targeted Again: Did Secret Service Respond Fast Enough?
    2026/04/30

In episode 62 of the Executive Perspective, Ron and Rob investigate the latest assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. They examine the response to the threat at the White House Correspondence Association dinner.

They question whether the US Secret Service, the primary agency responsible for presidential security, has sufficient staffing for such an event. They also discuss the US Secret Service’s current mission of investigating financial crimes such as counterfeiting and cyber fraud, rather than its primary responsibility of protecting dignitaries.

Additionally, they will discuss the recent arrest of an NYPD officer in the Bronx for Attempted Assault for an on-duty altercation. They will explore the shift away from CCRB/Internal discipline for excessive force complaints to criminal prosecution. This change has implications for the rank and file and their motivation to be proactive police officers.

Engage in the interactive chat and participate in a lively discussion.

With a combined 65 years of service in the NYPD, over 40 of which were in the executive ranks, retired Deputy Chief Rob Lukach and retired Inspector Ron Leyson offer an unparalleled analysis of policy, procedure, and leadership in the NYPD and law enforcement in general. On their podcast, Ron and Rob engage in a lively discussion, debate, and dissection of current high-profile incidents and topics of concern to rank-and-file members from their unique "Executive Perspective."

  • Excessive Force or Justified? NYPD Arrest Sparks Major Debate
    2026/04/24

In episode 61 of the Executive, Ron and Rob explore a viral video of an arrest by NYPD narcotics detectives that escalated into violence when the suspect resisted arrest. They’ll discuss whether the force used was excessive or justified, questioning when the use of force crosses the line and becomes criminal.

The suspect was later found not to be involved in the crime the detectives suspected. Consequently, the Brooklyn District Attorney announced he will drop the charges of Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Does this change the justification in use of force? What does the law say? Moreover, it prompts discussions on how this incident impacts public trust in the NYPD.

The conversation will also delve into the tactics employed by the narcotics team during the operation, specifically the use of an unauthorized text messaging app instead of radios. This tactic raises concerns about officer safety and the ability to seek help for themselves or an injured suspect.

The detectives have since been placed on Modified Assignment (guns and shields removed and placed on desk duty) and the entire team, including supervisors and executives have been transferred to other assignments. Was this a justified move by the NYPD? Where does the responsibility lie?

Furthermore, the discussion will shift to the comments made by Mayor Mamdani, Police Commissioner Tisch, and several politicians condemning the detectives based solely on the video. This will examine how these comments might influence any future investigation into the incident.

Join the interactive chat for a lively discussion on this highly controversial case.
