  • Eternal Darkness - Review - Silent Evil Podcast 33
    2026/06/16

Spencer and Cameron are going back to 2002 on the Nintendo GameCube for one of the most unique gaming experiences one can have. And that's not just for the survival horror genre. We are talking about Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem from Silicon Knights, the folks that made Blood Omen Legacy of Kain and Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes. Sadly, this game here is still lost in time to only the GameCube but here's hoping Nintendo might have it on the Switch 2's Virtual Console section in the near future.

Eternal Darkness is just filled with all sorts of unique gameplay features that one just doesn't see in other games. And not only do they age fantastic but still provide a real in depth journey into madness. With the game's sanity bar, that as it depletes, random and weird things may happen to you. From just odd sounds and blood dripping down the wall, to inverted rooms, with a fake overabundance of items, and even breaking the 4th wall by making you feel like your Tv is on the fritz or your game is glitching out. Really fun scenes and it's amazing how many there are in the game without ever repeating its self through the give or take 12-hour gameplay experience.

Where many horror games go to ape Resident Evil and Silent Hill, this one starts taking more cues from Alone in the Dark while leading its own path in a lineage style, time traveling journey. Like a proto–Assassin's Creed. A game that you have to experience at one point to fully understand. But the story is cool, the characters are great, and the monsters are creepy. It's really a game like no other and definitely one of the best survival horror experiences out there.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • Come and See (1985) Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 725
    2026/06/10

Spencer and Dave are checking out the Russian Soviet War drama film Come and See from 1985 about the 1943 German Occupation of Byelorussia during World War 2. From the perspective of a young boy who has to go from being a cheerful young lad, ready for adventure and glory, to seeing increasing struggle, survival, and brutality placed on him and the surrounding people of Russia.

The movie is about as heavy as one can get. Almost like the Russian version of Schindler's List. With a really interesting artistic style of Cinematography and editing. With camera shots of characters practically looking directly at the lens. Peering into the void of darkness one may say. The director Elem Klimov takes things one step further by using non actors in many of the roles and instead of special effects, they just go for the real thing. So, this means actual bullets, actual explosions, and even actual death for the most realistic portrayal of the horrors one can experience in the cinema. To top of all the darkness, there is even weird bits of comedy placed throughout the film which makes more sense when you see the director's filmography and how he started off making Soviet funny pictures.

This movie is definitely not for everyone, but it is an experience worth indulging. To learn about the brutal history of less than a hundred years ago and to see a one-of-a-kind cinema masterpiece that there is no way something like this could ever be made nowadays or even again.

  • Metro Last Light Review & Discussion - Silent Evil Podcast 32
    2026/06/08

Spencer and Cameron are continuing their Metro marathon, this time with Last Light in the Redux version. Going deeper into the post apocalyptic Russian world. Seeing where Artyom's journey takes him this time to figure out exactly what the Dark Ones truly are. And in the end, no one is too sure themselves.

This game definitely expands the lore of the land with more emphasis being put on the 3 major factions of the world. The gameplay gets dialed in and the pacing smoothed out through the level design. Though they still like to try and screw you on the surface with those filter reloads. All and all, good times are still had, and the new monsters offer more sights of terror. If you dig the good story telling era of FPS games from that Xbox 360 era, this one offers quite a journey.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • Any Which Way You Can (1980) Movie Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 724
    2026/06/01

Spencer and Dave are continuing their Clint Eastwood marathon of fighting, loving, and country music in Any Which Way You Can from 1980. Another road trip, buddy comedy with the great orangutang character of Clyde. Of course, Sondra Locke returns again to work her way back into Clint Eastwoods arms. And just about everyone else comes back except for Beverly D' Angelo's character from the first movie.

The second one is still just as much fun as the original, without just repeating the same jokes over and over but actually expanding on the characters and adding new elements. It's a cool, yet short lived era of cinema where that country western fun filled movies existed. From maybe about give or take 1973 to 1983. And ole Clint really delivers the action, the comedy, and the good time stories.

  • Every Which Way but Loose - Movie Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 723
    2026/05/26

Spencer and Dave are going back with a Vintage Cinema Review of the Clint Eastwood and Orangutang classic country film from 1978, Every Which Way but Loose. A trucker finds the girl of his dreams and punches his way to victory in some underground bareknuckle brawls, only to learn that she might just be conning him the whole way. Filled with excellent scenes, hilarious Clint Eastwood moments, and a great cast of supporting actors including Clyde the orangutang. If you dig the likes of Smokey and the Bandit and the Dukes of Hazard, you'll enjoy this Clint adventure.

  • Luigi's Mansion - Review & Discussion - Silent Evil Podcast 31
    2026/05/18

Spencer and Cameron are going back to 2001 with Nintendo's foray into the survival horror genre, right smack dab in the middle of the golden age with Luigi's Mansion. Which might be the ultimate gateway horror game for anyone to dip their feet into, especially the youth. LM hits all the right notes and delivers not only a spectacular horror ghost hunting experience but still holds up so well 25 years later. Even playing it on Switch 2 you don't feel like it's that old of a game.

  • Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 722
    2026/05/13

Spencer and Dave have just watched the new Mortal Kombat movie of 2 (not to be confused with Annihilation) and were thoroughly impressed with the experience. This movie goes to show that a sequel can really fix a rough start and turn the boat around to glory. The first MK movie from 2021 is about a middle of the road watch. There are great moments but also a lot of goofy changes.

This sequel comes in and literally fixes them all and upgrades the MK movie dimension by really feeling like the games. The movie was so good on just a first watch that we both thought that beyond the nostalgia for Mortal Kombat 1995, this movie was right there with it. In fact, with the new MK2, you could even bypass watching the first movie of the new series and as long as you had a standard understanding of the characters, you'd be perfectly dialed in.

  • Leon The Professional (1994) Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 721
    2026/05/06

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1994 for a Vintage Cinema Review of the French action film, Leon The Professional. Shot so brilliantly, with fantastic action scenes, and a story that may shock some normies who don't think too deeply but really is a very touching and emotional experience. That really only French cinema can bring. Giving you the heart, the comedy, and the brutal violence. All wrapped into one glorious classic.

Written and directed by Luc Besson and starring Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman. Everyone just chewing the scenery with charisma. This is such a great film, that any action fan needs to see and to top it off even more, there is an extended cut with over 20 minutes more of great times.
