• 30. Camp 2 Where Your Business Stops Depending on You | Team and Systems
    2026/07/15

Your schedule is full, your customers are happy, and you have absolutely nothing left to give. If you own a local service business and every dollar still depends on your personal hands, your personal phone, and your personal memory, this episode was made for you.

Ginny walks through the Business Mountain Framework™ at Camp 2, the growing phase, where your business stops depending solely on you. You will hear what your first real hire should look like (hint: it might not be another tradesperson), why training is a plan and not a one day ride along, and how to systematize your marketing, sales, quality, parts, and admin so quality survives being done by hands that are not yours. She also shares real examples from Cavalry Appliance, from the barcode system Joe fought to put in place to the outside pros who handle payroll and accounts payable.

If you are turning away good work because there is simply no more of you to go around, this is your map between the two ditches: hiring too fast without preparation, and waiting too long while the grind costs you your health and your family dinners.

Grab your notes from the Camp 1 episode, take a deep breath of that mountain air, and let's climb.

  • 29. Camp 1 Trail Map: 16 Things Every New Service Business Has to Get Right
    2026/07/08

Have you ever sat at the kitchen table at eight o'clock on a Thursday night, writing quotes and answering messages, quietly wondering if it's supposed to feel this hard? If you own a local service business and every single thing still runs through you, this episode was made for you. Because you're not behind. You're at Camp 1, the starting phase, and Camp 1 has its own work.

In this episode, Ginny continues the Business Mountain Framework™ series by walking through all 16 categories of a business at Camp 1 altitude, organized under the three pillars of Team, Trajectory, and Tracking. At this stage, the team is you, so team development means training yourself, and team engagement means finding your rope team, the peers who climb alongside you. On the trajectory side, Ginny covers your space, your market, your offers, and your operations, including why marking your vehicle matters more than an expensive wrap right now. And on the tracking side, she gets practical about knowing whether each job actually makes you money.

Three takeaways you can act on this week. First, open a business bank account if you haven't, because running business money through your personal account puts your LLC at risk; it's called piercing the corporate veil, which just means a court could treat your business and personal assets as one and the same. Second, if you work from home, set your Google Business Profile up as a service area business, not a map location, so you don't risk getting shut down. Third, put a weekly meeting with yourself on the calendar to work on your business, not just in it, and hold that time like an appointment with your best customer.

The Camp 1 Rope Team is now open, with three ways to join:

    • In person in New Bern on Monday evenings at 6 pm,
    • On Zoom Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am Eastern, or
    • On Zoom Wednesday mornings at 6:30 am Eastern.

Head to https://www.outcomeacademy.com/summit to grab your spot, and if you're not sure where you are on the mountain, take the Find Your Camp quiz at outcomeacademy.com/findmycamp.

  • 28. The Number You're Afraid to Look At | Business Strategy
    2026/07/01

It is Friday, the schedule was full, your customers were happy, and there is still not enough in the account to cover payroll. If that gap makes your stomach drop, this one is for you. Ginny has a real, honest conversation about the money most service business owners were never taught to look at.

Here is the idea that catches hardworking owners off guard: profit is not cash. You can look profitable on paper and still miss payroll, because cash is the oxygen of your business, and it runs out in the gap between the money going out and the money coming in. Ginny walks through three simple habits that keep you breathing: a fifteen minute weekly cash check, separating the money that was never yours to spend, like sales tax and payroll taxes, and job costing so you know each job actually made money after materials and labor.

This episode is for owners in the early camps, the HVAC tech, the plumber, the appliance repair owner who is busy but not sure the work is paying. You will walk away able to answer one honest question: can I cover the next two payrolls, no matter what.

Turn on the lights, my friend. You are not the problem. Your altitude is.

And speaking of altitude, you can find out exactly where you are on the mountain by taking a quick quiz at outcomeacademy.com/findmycamp .

  • 27. Internal Hazards, External Hazards, and How to See Them Coming | Business Strategy
    2026/06/24

There are two ways a business gets knocked off the mountain. One comes at you from the outside with no warning. The other one you build yourself, one small decision at a time. If you have ever had a rough quarter and could not quite name what caused it, this episode is for you.

Ginny breaks down the difference between external hazards, the threats you cannot control, and internal hazards, the weaknesses you create without meaning to. You will learn a simple twist on the SWOT analysis that turns it into a hazard map, where your strengths and weaknesses are the forces inside your control and your opportunities and threats are the forces outside of it. She also shares the SUPERSWOT, the quarterly exercise the Eight Thousander Mastermind runs across all sixteen business categories so no danger gets to hide. And she explains why you cannot name your real hazards until you know which camp your business is actually in.

This one is for the service business owner who is tired of being blindsided and ready to see trouble coming before it costs them. After you listen, take the quick quiz at OutcomeAcademy.com/findmycamp to find your camp and the top three hazards most likely to knock you off the mountain at your stage.

Grab a notebook, because you are going to want to map a few of these out for yourself.

  • 26. Nobody Gave Us a Map When We Started. This Episode Is the Map. | Business Strategy
    2026/06/17

Most service business owners are working hard -- but not always on the right things. And it's not a motivation problem. It's an altitude problem. When you're doing Camp 3 work in a Camp 1 business, or spending money on tools designed for a team of twenty when you're still the only person answering the phone, the effort doesn't translate into forward movement.

In this episode, Ginny walks through the Outcome Academy Business Mountain Framework from start to finish -- the five stages every service business moves through: Base Camp (planning), Camp 1 (starting), Camp 2 (growing), Camp 3 (scaling), and Camp 4 (selling and legacy). She covers what each stage actually feels like from the inside, what the 16 business categories look like at each camp, and why the most expensive mistakes happen when business owners invest in the wrong things at the wrong time.

This episode is especially useful if you're in Camp 1 -- doing everything yourself, wearing every hat, and wondering why you can't get ahead. It's also a strong reference episode if you've been listening to this podcast for a while and want to understand the full framework behind everything Ginny teaches.

Come take a look at the map. It's going to make the climb a lot clearer.

  • 25. Why Giving Back Is the Best Business Strategy You're Not Using | Business Strategy
    2026/06/10

This past weekend, Ginny's team paddled a Viking boat down the Trent River, took third place, won Most Spirited, and handed both prize checks to local organizations. That story is the starting point for a conversation every local service business owner needs to hear.

In this episode, Ginny walks through what community involvement actually looks like at every stage of building a service business, from Base Camp all the way to Camp Four, and why the businesses that show up consistently and generously are the ones that earn the deepest community trust. You will hear why name recognition and trust are not the same thing, why waiting until you have more resources is the wrong move, and how something as simple as a $45 raft race entry can build the kind of visibility that no ad budget can buy. Ginny also shares how Cavalry Appliance Service has woven giving back into their team culture through sponsorships, an Angel Tree, and mentoring a local family toward homeownership.

This episode is for the local service business owner who wants to build something their community genuinely counts on. Whether you own one truck or a growing team, the posture of generosity is available to you right now.

You do not need a big platform. You need intention, and intention is free.

  • 24. The One Meeting You're Not Having (That's Keeping You Stuck)
    2026/06/03

If you've ever thought you were too busy to step back and work on your business, this episode is going to challenge that thinking in the best way. Ginny shares a real conversation she had with a solo business owner who felt completely overwhelmed at the idea of committing 90 minutes a week to strategy. If that sounds familiar, this one is for you.

In this episode, Ginny breaks down why most one-person operations get stuck in the weeds, and what it actually takes to start climbing out. She explains the difference between working inside your business, answering phones, doing the work, sending invoices, and working on your business, the strategic thinking that determines whether you are doing the same thing alone a decade from now or building something that gives you your life back. One job pays the bills today. The other one builds the business you actually want.

Ginny introduces the concept of a Camp One Mastermind, a standing weekly meeting that serves as the foundation for working strategically, whether you are the only one in the room or you are building toward a small group of business owners at the same stage. She walks through what those 90 minutes can look like week by week, using a solo appliance repair technician as an example, and shares the personal accountability structures she has built in her own business journey, including her BNI experience and the peer groups she relies on today.

Three things to take away from this episode: First, working on your business is not something you do when things slow down. It is the practice that creates the slowdown. Second, isolation is what makes busyness feel unmanageable. Getting the right people around you changes everything. Third, the habit comes first, and the answers follow. Start with 90 minutes, same day, same time, every week, no exceptions.

  • 23. Stop Fearing AI. Start Running It. | AI and Technology
    2026/05/27

Most service business owners have tried AI at least once. But when the results come back flat and generic, they quietly close the tab and assume it just is not for them. The real problem is not the tool. It is that nobody has sat down with them and shown them how to actually use it in a business like theirs.

In this episode, Ginny shares the five checkpoints she taught live at the New Bern Chamber of Commerce AI Workshop, and she brings that same practical session straight to you. She walks through how to prompt AI so it stops sounding like everyone else on the internet, how to use the free Google tool NotebookLM to build a private searchable knowledge base for your business, and how to start thinking about agentic AI safely and strategically. She also covers how to make AI a real habit instead of something you try once and forget, and wraps up with a quick tour of tools like Napkin.ai, Gamma.app, Descript, Flux LoRa, and Perplexity.

This episode is especially useful if you have been curious about AI but have not found a starting point that fits your actual workload. Whether you run an appliance repair company, a plumbing business, a lawn care operation, or any other local service business, the checkpoints Ginny covers here are designed to meet you exactly where you are.

Hit play and let this one be the starting point you have been waiting for.
