    Proverbs 4:23 (ESV) – “Keep your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on the vital importance of guarding our hearts to live a successful Christian life. He warns that what we choose to focus on, whether through entertainment or the places we go, can create "dark spots" in our hearts if we are not careful. Using the example of the Israelites in the desert, he shows how a heart that is not diligently kept can become stubborn and disloyal toward God. Pastor Sumrall explains that our heart determines the entire course of our lives and determines our loyalty to God’s Covenant. To guard against wrong attitudes, we must be intentional about what we put into our hearts through the Word and worship. He reasoned with them about righteousness, self-control, and coming judgment.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall discusses the essential components of the New Testament Gospel that are often overlooked today. Drawing from the preaching of the Apostle Paul, he highlights that faith in Jesus Christ is inextricably linked to righteousness, self-control, and the reality of coming judgment. These doctrines provide the necessary foundation for a quality of salvation that remains steadfast. Pastor Sumrall explains that while the love of God is central, the Gospel also includes the truth that God is a God of Justice who must judge sin. Removing right living and self-discipline from the message can lead to a shallow faith that quickly falls away.     1 Chronicles 18:11 (NLT) – “David dedicated these articles to the Lord as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations.” In this episode of Daily Devotions, Pastor David Sumrall reflects on King David’s wisdom in managing resources for the building of God's house. David established two separate treasuries: one for regular kingly expenses and another specifically for dedicated things captured in victory. This decades-long commitment to saving silver, gold, and bronze eventually enabled Solomon to construct the palatial temple. Pastor Sumrall explains that families should follow this biblical model by maintaining two kinds of savings. In addition to a regular savings account, believers are encouraged to set aside special blessings or unexpected provisions for the big projects and "special opportunities" in life.
