Spring football practices recently wrapped up, and though we weren't able to watch much of it (due to both us not being in Pullman and WSU's policy of not showing toooooo much on video), some of what happened did filter out, including the fact that the quarterbacks didn't exactly light the world on fire. We discuss what it might mean for the fall.

Then, we move on to David Riley's remake of the basketball team after almost the entire roster hit the portal, which is near completion. Four guys have signed since our last episode, and they're all down-transfers -- which means there's some talent there that Riley is hoping he can unearth. And that's intriguing!

Plus, we talk about the expansion of the NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams, the hire of Jon Haarlow as AD, WSU baseball's big weekend coming up, and (of course) beer talk.

  • Checking in on spring football, hoops roster rebuild (Episode 250)

We're about two thirds of the way through Kirby Moore's first set of spring football practices, and while there isn't a lot of video out there for us to judge with our own eyes, there are plenty of first-hand reports thanks to increased media access this year.

It doesn't seem like the offense has been lighting it up. But that's ok, we think? We also talk about running back Kirby Vorhees' eye-popping statement: "It's the best defense I've been a part of."

Then, we move on to David Riley's remake of the basketball team after almost the entire roster hit the portal. There's one new guy in particular who we're damn excited about: Division 2 transfer Lazerek Houston. We also take a brief look at the other four players who have committed and try to draw some conclusions about how Riley is trying to rebuild in a program that doesn't have a ton of resources.

    Plus (of course) beer talk.

  • It's Sweet 16 time! Plus, spring football (Episode 249)

The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is in the books, and there weren't all that many upsets -- the Sweet 16 is looking pretty chalky. Sure, Texas is an 11 seed, but ... it's Texas, probably the most resource rich athletics department in the country. In fact, every member of the Sweet 16 comes from the top 5 conferences (football's Power 4 + Big East).

It made for a bit of a boring first couple of rounds, but with the best teams in the country now lined up, the Sweet 16 and beyond should be fantastic.

Why did it happen that way? And what does all this separation of the top teams mean for WSU?

After discussing that, we took a brief glimpse at spring football, which starts on Thursday for the Cougs under new coach Kirby Moore.

Plus, beer talk and a brief look at the baseball team.
