The best companies and organizations work diligently to retain their effective team members. This is because of the high cost of turnover. In its 2025 article about cost of turnover, High 5 Test, states that replacing a leader in a company can cost up to 200% of their salary. For technical roles that is 80% of salary and frontline roles, that cost is 40% of salary. These data emphasize the high importance of return on investment of aligning people’s genius with job related roles.

Michelin is a company that understands this high importance of return on investment of aligning their employees’ genius with their roles. In a case study conducted by Havard Business Review since 2012, Michelin implemented an empowerment approach by tapping into a vast reservoir of human ingenuity of their employees, delivering over $500 million in manufacturing improvements by 2020. The article calls for organizations to create work environments where all employees can contribute meaningfully.

The concept of employees contributing meaningfully is exactly what Patrick Lencioni’s Working Genius is all about. The founder of The Table Group, Lencioni is the pioneer of the organizational health movement. Lencioni’s book Working Genius is guiding companies in aligning employees’ working genius with roles and responsibilities. From helping organizations understand the gifts of their teams, the Working Genius also help teams understand their team’s frustrations,

In this episode of Points of Leadership, we examine Lencioni’s six working genius and how that is applied to people’s strengths and uniqueness. From the genius of wonder, discernment, enablement, invention, galvanizing and tenacity, this is an episode that will equip leaders in ensuring their teams are well aligned by strengths and roles. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life on these working genius model.

Quote: "Mere change is not growth. Growth is the synthesis of change and continuity, and where there is no continuity there is no growth.” — C. S. Lewis

Growth is not a onetime endeavor, but rather a continuous marathon. At the center of organizations’ goals is ensuring their teams are emotionally intelligent and working collaboratively. In a 2025 article by Havard Business Review (HBR) in its collective on emotional intelligence, the article asserted that a collection of virtuosos does not usually make a virtuosic team. Similarly, in the Havard Business Review (HBR) collective on collaborations, a recent article explores how the labor of leadership mandates collaboration and engagement to ensure agency for the entire team and organization. When agency is low, or non-existent, restoring that is essential.

In this episode of Points of Leadership, we examine the final growth points in our series. First, we share three things that emotional intelligent team members possess to ensure continuous growth for the organization. Secondly, we share three ways to ensure successful collaborations that impact continuous growth for teams, families, and communities. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life on these growth points for this year.

  • Points of Leadership Episode 44: Leading For Sustainability
    2025/07/23

Quote: “Corporate culture matters. How management chooses to treat its people impacts everything for better or for worse.” --- Simon Sinek

Points of Leadership is all about equipping leaders in maximizing their leadership for the people they lead and care for.

Leadership sustainability is something that most Fortune 500 companies keep center focus on for long lasting impact of their services, products and customers. For example, Apple Inc has consistently ranked in the top 20 of the Fortune Global 500 list since 2013. This type of consistent impact is built and sustained through a corporate lens of excellence that trickles down to every aspect of the company and its culture.

In a 2023 Forbes article by former Forbes Council member Frayda Leibtag, one of the factors that contribute to an impactful sustainability is the power of celebrating success in the workplace. Leibtag states that while it's possible to navigate the workplace without mastering the art of sharing success, excelling in today's professional landscape and creating a positive work culture requires more than just participation; it demands being proactive about how companies communicate their own performance. The article further states that one of the most significant benefits of sharing success is cultivating a culture of celebration. Celebrating success in a company or team is a powerful way to bond, foster a sense of community and ensure fellow employees can feel the appreciation.

In this invigorating episode of Points of Leadership, Dr. Feyi Obamehinti and Mrs. Kristin Jaeck explore and discuss the value of prioritizing celebration as a leader for the benefit of the team, organization or company. They discuss some of the visible benefits of making celebration a viable culture that brings many inter-related returns. Such as boosting team morale, building a culture that attracts high performing team, and setting a positive tone of appreciation.

Lastly, they discuss the underlying psychological impact of leading for sustainability and the power of celebrating success in the workplace. As always, the leadership principles we share on Points of Leadership are for any leader in any industry that desires to take care of those they lead well through the overflow of his or her life. So, pull up a chair, call a friend and take a listen and share with any industry leader in your life.
