  • Top 4 Practical Stress Management Skills To Master
    2026/06/29
In this podcast, I'm going to tell you about the top four skills you need to master to relieve stress. If you lack these skills, healthily managing your stress levels will not be possible.Listen & Subscribe to the Meditation Life Skills Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts. 📺 Watch & Subscribe on YouTube. 1. Avoid StressThe top skill to master is simply avoiding stress. This skill may seem sarcastic, but it is genuinely helpful. There are several practical ways that you can avoid stress. First, take control of what you can control. If you know you are going to have a stressful day or that arriving late to work causes you stress, plan accordingly to try to avoid it. Secondly, avoid people who make your stress much worse. We cannot avoid everyone who causes stress, but we can try to minimize our encounters with them. More so, learn to say no to people. Many people find themselves in stressful situations because they don't know how to say no. Learning to say no when you are already stressed or busy will prevent you from experiencing any more stress. 2. Change the Situation Another skill to master is knowing how to change your situation for the best. Whenever you feel overwhelmed or stressed, take charge and find ways to effectively alleviate the stress. If another person is causing you stress, communicate with them. They are probably unaware of the stress they are putting on you. Remember to approach this person with respect and vulnerability. It is best to use the "I" pronouns so that the other person does not feel attacked. If your stress stems from time-management issues, learn how to manage your time better. Either schedule fewer appointments or learn how to multitask. Be sure to note your limits so you know how much you can handle in the future. 3. Accept What You Can't Control The previous two skills involve knowing how to change your situation, but there are many instances where you have no control over the matter. Whenever you find yourself here, you need to accept what you cannot change. Being able to accept these things will help to relieve stress in your life. One of the best ways to accept what you can't control is to be kind to yourself. Instead of thinking negative thoughts about yourself or others, think of positive things that you can say. Speaking positivity and kindness to yourself will allow you the sensitivity to accept things without letting them affect your mindset.4. Adapt to SituationsFinally, the last skill to master is adapting to stressful situations. If you have accepted that there is a situation you cannot control, then you may be ready to take the next step. When we are stressed, it is expected. When we perceive ourselves to be in danger or under pressure, our bodies, brains, and emotions undergo a natural reaction that influences how we think, feel, and behave. There are numerous ways and settings in which stress might manifest itself. On the other side, the vast majority of us have either experienced or witnessed burnout at some point in our lives.Acceptance, on the other hand, may be the most beneficial method to address stress, despite our natural tendency to reject, flee, or push ourselves further away from it. As a result, we are able to relieve the stress that contributes to unwanted sentiments and grow closer to our goals and meaningful lives.Changing how we react to stress may also keep us from reverting to unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as excessive alcohol consumption or avoiding circumstances that temporarily make us feel worse.Stress can help us build resilience by energizing us and encouraging us to take action and avoid repeating past mistakes."Be the person your soul wishes you to be." - Don WeyantOffering step-by-step instructions for beginners. • Subconscious Vs Unconscious Mind: How Self-Hypnosis Helps
    2026/06/22

What is Your Unconscious Mind? Self-hypnosis is potentially a compelling tool that you can use to overcome fears, improve physical and mental performance, and even help cure addictions.

But without our understanding of the unconscious mind, there would be no such thing as hypnotism, never mind self-hypnosis. We will examine what the unconscious mind is and how it relates to your well-being and personality.

What is the Unconscious or Subconscious Mind?

Many of us think of Freud as something of a whack job who accused people of fancying their parents. That said, he should also be remembered for his many incredible contributions to the field of psychology. Before Freud, there was no psychotherapy or counseling, and before Freud, there was no concept of an unconscious mind.

In Freud's view, the unconscious mind versus the subconscious mind was everything that was going on 'beneath the surface' in our waking lives. He often likened this concept to an iceberg, with only the tip visible and the rest murky and inaccessible. So you might say one thing and think another, but on some level, more is going on that you are unaware of.

Freud described an 'unconscious mind' as the part of the mind we weren't conscious of. He never used the term 'subconscious,' which is really just a misnomer.

Complications In What Our Brain Believes

Our unconscious is made up of all the things our brain deems inconsequential or too upsetting for our conscious mind to handle. Thus, we often 'repress' memories and can't remember them; we deny things and fail to notice them, but they are all still there, working away beneath the surface.

And if there are unconscious associations we hold about something or beliefs about something, then these can hold us back and cause us not to perform at our best, or even to become mentally ill.

This, then, is the role of classic Freudian psychodynamic intervention—to help the individual come to terms and move past these unconscious roadblocks. Freud had many tools for doing so, from the 'inkblot test' to the interpretation of dreams (the 'royal road to the unconscious').

  • 4 Easy Ways To Master Meditation And Improve Your Practice
    2026/06/15

Today, I want to share four ways to master meditation. But before I get into that, I want to take this opportunity to say that meditation is a process, not a destination.

The more you meditate, the easier it will get. But there are always ways to improve your meditation and grow as an individual and as a meditator. Now, let's look at four ways you can master meditation.

    1. Focus on Your Breathing. The first way to master meditation is to focus on your breathing. Breathing is something that we do all the time, usually, without even realizing it. During your meditation, you should use your breath to intentionally anchor your practice.

Secondly, focusing on your breathing helps you stay present. Since breathing happens in the present, it focuses your mind on a present action rather than on a past or future one.

Thirdly, focusing on your breathing will allow you to connect your mind and body as one. In the modern world, our bodies and minds are often treated as two separate entities, resulting in a lot of stress and confusion about ourselves.

    2. Switch Up Your Meditation. The second way to master meditation is to switch up your practice. Many people make the mistake of choosing one practice and sticking to it exclusively. This may be particularly beneficial if you're new to meditating and are still learning how to meditate best, but doing only one meditation won't allow you to grow or challenge yourself.

    3. Be Kind to Yourself A third way to master meditation is to be kind to yourself. Many people view meditation as a harsh form of self-discipline. While meditation is a form of discipline, it should be mixed with kindness and compassion. There's no way that you can master meditation without first learning how to speak to yourself in a kind and compassionate way.

    4. Try to Incorporate Meditation into Different Parts of Your Life. Finally, the fourth way to master meditation is to incorporate it into different parts of your life. What I mean by this approach is to practice meditation even when you're not intentionally meditating. I know that may sound difficult, but it will be extremely beneficial in the long run.
