After a series of failed Prime Ministers, King George III finally found a friend that he could rely on in Frederick North, Lord North. As Grafton’s government collapsed, Lord North became the last "adult in the room". He lacked the charisma and wealth of his predecessors, but somehow held Britain’s government together better than anyone expected. He navigated crisis after crisis, even winning Chatham's grudging praise: "This tenure seems to be a good one."
