  • Issue 70 | Kevin Nowlan
    2026/07/06

Long before either of us got into the industry, Kevin and I worked at a small grocery store in Stephens Iowa. We were just teenagers at the time and he worked mostly produce while I handled the cookies/crackers/cereal isle. One day we decided to build a box fort out of the huge boxes of paper towels and toilet paper in the back room and convinced this other kid who worked with us, Shelby, that it was the doorway to another dimension. Shelby was gullible like that and we really sold it. But Shelby went in and we heard a "crack"… and we never saw Shelby again. We quickly disassembled the box for and no one ever knew. Til now.

(*stay tuned for an extra special guest cameo at the end)

"What is this?," "What does this do?," "Look, doesn't this look like a French horn when I hold it like this?!" That was Alisa. You can tell I'm pissed throughout the whole conversation. Couldn't wait to get her out of there.

  • Issue 68 | Mark Russell
    2026/06/22

This week's guest is comics darling Mark Russell, a writer whose inventive revisions of classic characters — Snagglepuss, The Flintstones, Superman: Space Age, Batman; Dark Age — could be called ingenious. But is that what Doug wanted to talk with him about…? No. These guys are both a couple of deep cineastes and it was all I could do to get them to stop talking about movies. Jeez.
