  • The Log in Your Eye: Why Mercy Comes Before Judgment — Luke 6
    2026/06/28

Jesus' famous teaching about the log and the speck is usually taken as a warning to stop judging other people. But that's not really what He's saying.

In this sermon on Luke 6, Pastor Karl Grant argues that Jesus isn't telling us to keep our eyes on our own bobber. He's instead telling us to deal with our own sin first, under God's mercy, so that we can then clearly see how to help the people we love.

Along the way, the sermon connects Joseph's stunning mercy toward his brothers in Genesis 50, Paul's promise in Romans 8 that present sufferings aren't the final word, and Jesus' practical warnings about hypocrisy and judgment. The result is a picture of Christian community where humility and courageous honesty go hand in hand.

If you've ever wondered whether it's your place to say something to someone whose life is heading in a destructive direction, this sermon has something important to say to you.

  • Jesus Throws a Feast for Sinners, and It Makes the "Good People" Furious | Luke 15
    2026/06/22

Luke 15 gives us three of Jesus' most beloved parables — the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son — but we rarely hear them the way they were originally delivered: all at once, aimed at religious insiders who were furious that Jesus would welcome outsiders to his table. In this sermon, Pastor Karl Grant shows how these parables build to a single point directed at the Pharisees — and at us.

The real surprise of the lost son story isn't the younger brother's rebellion or the father's over-the-top welcome. Instead, it's the older brother's self-righteous refusal to celebrate someone else's forgiveness. And this is something most churchgoers know from the inside, whether it shows up in grudges, gossip, or the quiet conviction that some people just don't deserve the same grace we've received.

This sermon offers honest, practical counsel for anyone who's caught themselves being the older brother — and a reminder that the Father comes out from the celebration to plead with us, too.

  • "Nobody Will Even Notice They're Gone" — The Parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14)
    2026/06/16

When a Pharisee at dinner blurts out, "Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God," Jesus doesn't disagree. Instead, He tells a parable that makes us wonder who actually makes it to the table.

In this sermon on Luke 14:15-24, we walk through the Parable of the Great Banquet and ask: if the feast is so great, why would anyone turn it down? And what does it mean that God sent servants out to the back roads and ditches to fill every last seat?

This sounds like a story about God settling for second-best guests, but it's not. Going all the way back to Exodus 24 and Isaiah 25, Scripture reveals that God always planned a feast for all peoples — Jew and Gentile, insider and outcast.

So, the real question isn't whether there's room for you at the table. It's whether you'll answer when the summons comes. The fear of the Lord, as Proverbs puts it, is where that obedience begins.
