    Bob Dolezal grew up in Iowa City, Iowa and was fortunate to have had a father that enjoyed the outdoors. At an early age Bob got to tag alone learning to hunt squirrels, rabbits and pheasants. Like most families at that time the wild game harvested was used to help sustain the family. Although Bob and his family lived in the city his Dad was the Asst Chief of Police and knew lots of people in the county that gave them permission to hunt.

    Steve Goodwin shot his first rooster on family property outside Wellman, Iowa. Steve said he wasn’t sure who was more surprised his Dad or him. This hunting event set the stage for a passion for bird hunting that continues today. The Goodwin family mostly hunted family land without dogs but in the early seventies a small black and white English setter called Chip changed everything.

    Tom Riccardi didn’t grow up hunting but was given an opportunity to accompany a college friend on a waterfowl hunt and was hooked. Tom found the many preparations of equipment leading up to the hunt, the early mornings to deploy decoys on that special spot with a good friend and dog an experience he had to repeat. Over the years Tom has expanded his hunting to include pheasant hunting and he can be found chasing ringnecks in Kansas on most opening days with a special lab.

    Brad grew up in Corydon, Iowa where as a youth he learned to hunt both pheasants and quail. After high school Brad’s life journey led him to play college football in South Dakota where he excelled at sports and immersed himself in the pheasant hunting gundog lifestyle that flourished there. To earn extra money during the summer breaks, Tom began training hunting dogs and his abilities led to opportunities to work for and learn from many professional trainers. Brad began training professionally and today has turned his passion for bird hunting and gundogs into a very successful family hunting business, High Point Lodge in Pierre, South Dakota.

    As a youth growing up in Mound City, Missouri, Pete Clegett took advantage of the abundance of water fowl hunting opportunities and became a regular in many of the goose pits. An early fascination with duck and goose calling led Pete to learn from veteran callers and develop a style of his own. His ability at deceiving ducks became legendary and sent him into calling competition. At the age of 17 Pete won the Missouri State Calling Championship. Pete continued to compete in contests and won numerous awards.

    Pete’s love of the outdoors also included being a professional guide and hunting camp owner in Canada for 15 years.

He has many fond memories calling in ducks and geese and the camaraderie that can only be found in a goose pit with family and close buddies. Steve fondly recalls the annual pheasant hunting trips to Viborg, South Dakota in the late fifties.
