概要
We’re talking about colorism. And fair warning — this one’s going to get real.As sisters who grew up in India and experienced our childhood there, today we’re tackling colorism that quite a few South Asian people in the world have experienced, either directly or by seeing someone else subjected to it. That’s the thing about colorism. Nobody sits you down and teaches about color bias to you. You just breathe it in. It’s in the TV ads, it’s in the way uncles and aunties talk about skin color at family gatherings, it’s in the Bollywood movies where every lead actor is three shades lighter skin tone than the rest of the country. And before you even know what’s happening, you’ve internalized a whole belief system about your own worth based on the color of your skin.So today, we’re ripping that open. We’re talking about colorism — what it is, where it comes from, and what it’s cost us. As individuals, as a community, and as a culture. And honestly, what it’s going to take to change it.Hope you enjoy this episode. Thank you for being part of our community, where we recognize and learn from every personality.
