  • Sound Screen Episode 312: Red Line Celebrates their 100th Album: Interview with James Desmond and Panauh Kalayeh
    2026/06/01

For anything in life, reaching a hundred anything is a cause for celebration. So, it’s no surprise that James Desmond and Panauh Kalayeh, the founders of one of the best Hip Hop libraries in the business, Red Line, popped champagne and shouted on the rooftops to celebrate the release of their 100th album: Hip Hop Sports 2.

The album is a classic Red Line release perfect for many use cases from sports to reality tv to advertising to video games, and more. The level of craftsmanship in this six-track release is undisputed. “Lock In Action” for one, is a hybrid track that incorporates ethereal vocals, crunchy guitar riffs, hard drops and beats that will fit any scene and any spot. It’s even fine for casual listening outside of production work. Yes, it’s that good.

Another track, “Great Hype Adventure” mixes overdriven 808 kicks with, orchestral hits, and vocal hooks that can really amp up competition scenes. Listening to this while you’re just frying eggs at home for breakfast will make you feel like you’re on Chopped. It’s game on with this one.

We recently spoke with James and Panauh and talked about their journey to album 100. How they started the label and the amount of artistry and precision that they impart to every track in every Red Line release.

Listen to the exclusive interview with Red Line’s James Desmond and Panauh Kalayeh.

  • Sound Screen Episode 310: Interview with Juno Award-Nominees, Collect.Assembly
    2026/04/28

This podcast episode was recorded a few days before the 2026 Juno Awards.

History would inform us that early Christianity was disruptive. It was a radical, thought-provoking, bold, and aggressive movement made up of a band of common folk who challenged the status quo and eventually changed the course of human history. Christians then were rebels and provocateurs who used unconventional methods to get their message across, never afraid of the consequences as long as were of service to their faith.

A group of devout Christian musicians from Canada called Collect.Assembly have taken the same approach and completely rocked the Christian music world to its core with, not just their ground-breaking sounds, but also their flamboyant personas that are in full display whenever they take the stage. And while their spicy and tangy take on Christian music have made it extra harder for them to be accepted into the fold, their hard work and perseverance are starting to pay off with no less than a nomination to Canada’s biggest music award, the Juno. Now, this band’s norm-shattering music is available for licensing through APM Music.
