Real science, real Bible, real history, real world. Enlightening discussions that will change the way you think about the ancient Old Testament.

The biblical accounts are not myth or legend; in fact they are more real than you ever imagined. Each month brings you Bible/science research results you won't hear anywhere else, and why it matters for you today.

Your hosts, Steve and Jennifer Hall, present a collage of topics from the research work of Dr. Gerald Aardsma (The Biblical Chronologist), providing a desperately needed data-rich apologetic for the foundations of the Christian faith.

  • Deep Into the Wilderness (Route of the Exodus)
    2026/07/01

    [Season 4, Episode 12]

We have been deep into the wilderness lately—figuratively speaking. In preparation for a detailed video series on the Route of the Exodus, we have been compiling all of Dr. Aardsma's work on this subject. For today's podcast, we pull out several points of interest, some being brand new information for our podcast audience. Each point is presented as a trivia question.

    1. What is Ezion Geber?
    2. In what two locations did a "water from the rock" miracle happen?
    3. Where did Israel spend most of 40 years in the wilderness?
    4. Upon which mountain did Aaron die?
    5. Upon which mountain did Moses die?

  • The Joshua Narrative: Archaeology, History, and You
    2026/06/02

    [Season 4, Episode 11]

Instead of our typical back-and-forth discussion as the featured topic, this month we share a message given to a church congregation.

Steve recently preached this message covering several aspects of the real-world history we find at both Jericho and Ai, when traditional biblical chronology is corrected. This was part of a sermon series in the book of Joshua. After the message was concluded, we decided it would be an excellent fit for The BC Messenger podcast audience as well.

Given in his typical energetic and engaging style, this message demonstrates just how applicable and inspiring the historical, archaeological context is for these biblical accounts.

Providing congregations with real-world information and data-rich apologetics equips them with the tools to strengthen their faith, answer challenges, and restore foundations that have been broken down.

  • Make the Old Testament Great Again
    2026/04/30

In any evangelical church today, congregations are much more likely to hear a sermon based on the New Testament rather than the Old Testament. Perhaps the pastor will allude to or reference the Old Testament, but the primary text will most likely be from the New.

Congregations do not demonstrate a general familiarity with notable Old Testament stories, such as young men calling out to Elijah "Go up thou bald head!" or Daniel's dream of a stone that grew into a mountain and filled the whole earth.

Our Daily Bread, a classic, evangelical devotional publication, has produced a booklet: "Five Reasons to Love the Old Testament." That title alone indicates the dearth in this area within the Christian church today.

It's an odd phenomenon, considering that the Old Testament is over three times the length of the New, containing plenteous thrilling accounts of God's power, setting the foundation for God's redemption plan for the world, teaching God's character through examples, demonstrating both His judgment and His mercy. While the Old Testament covers thousands of years of history, the New Testament spans only decades.

This is not only an odd phenomenon, but it also presents a major problem for teaching the historicity of the Old Testament, as we strive to do on this podcast. People are unlikely to care about the historicity of something if they don't know the content of it in the first place, or why that content matters.

Why and how did the major emphasis in churches shift to the New Testament? What problems arise as a result of this imbalance? How can this be corrected? Join us for this discussion.
