Well, we are back this week with our return trip from market for spring 2027, and, you know, we really do record this podcast in the car, and I don't edit them until after we've been back home for a few days. And today, as I was listening to it, I thought, "Lord, we don't ever need to do this again," because all three of us are so tired. You can hear it in our voices. But we did do it. We did do it for you all, and in this episode, we are talking about the things that we found, things that we're excited about 2027, some things that we thought that we might see or hoped to see, and we did see, some of our struggles, of course. A funny story about a restaurant not working out for Dwayne, and even funnier, it was a week of confessionals. I just got back from a family trip to a place where I have not really been since I was a kid. And let me tell you, rock candy, pecan rolls, more fudge than any reasonable adult should eat in one weekend, and I was not reasonable. But beyond eating all of the things that I shouldn't have, we also did a little bit of shopping, and I had a little moment that spoke back to when I was a kid, and it made me start thinking about what we do, how the pieces in your home just aren't pretty things on a shelf: a bowl, a pitcher, handful of seashells in a jar. They can take you right back to a place, a person, maybe the last Thanksgiving that everybody got along. We have all had the horrific visions of the weddings from the '80s. I'm thinking of... This week we are discussing AI, artificial intelligence. And unless you've been living under a rock, which sometimes I wish I could, you probably hear about it because it is everywhere. It's now integrated into everything. And understandably so, people have a lot of questions. There's a lot of things that we don't understand. Half the internet fears it. A lot of people think it's the destruction of the world. Other people think it's gonna be the best thing that ever happened, and somehow your crazy uncle thinks that it can read your minds through Facebook. I mean, there are a lot of, we'll just say interesting things that people have to say and what they believe about it right now.

So today, I try to walk Stuart and Duane through what I understand of it today. And we talk about it in design, we talk about how it can be used working on the home, We discuss why it's an amazing thing, why it's a terrifying thing, why it could be an amazing starting point for thoughts, brainstorming, all of those kinds of things. and why that can be a disaster. Along the way, we learn a lot, we laugh a lot, and I gotta tell you, I think probably one of us, and I'm just gonna say it's the bald one, I think he probably asked ChatGPT when he got home if when it sleeps it counts digital sheep. Today, we're having a little bit of an intervention. Because somewhere along the line, we all started designing homes like we were preparing for a magazine shoot instead of, you know, living in them. Trying to curate a Pinterest board and then curating a home, and it is just a disaster waiting to happen. I personally even realized I did the same thing in my closet. You'll hear me talk about it in the podcast. The truth is, we get so caught up in inspiration photos that we stop asking the most important question: Does this space actually function for my life? Is it going to make my life easier? Because if your kitchen is beautiful but impossible to cook in, or your entryway looks amazing but has nowhere for shoes, bags, or keys, eventually the space starts working against you, and you're going to hate that space. So today, we are talking about why function matters more than perfection, how to zoom out and design for real life, and why the best homes aren't the ones that photograph the best. They're the ones that make everyday life easier.
