October 1998, a Tuesday night after midnight. The Coronado Motor Inn outside Seligman, Arizona, is a relic from Route 66 days, and Luna is working the late shift. A woman checks in alone, pays cash, and asks for room 7. She carries nothing but a small duffel bag. Two hours later, Luna finds the woman sitting in the dark lobby, staring at an empty armchair, whispering a name. The woman says the chair is waiting for someone who died thirty years ago on this same night. She asks Luna to sit with her until morning. Luna stays. She never finds out who the woman was waiting for, or whether anyone came.
