概要

Have you ever been angry with God?

In Jonah 4, the prophet was angry at God. He couldn't believe what God had done. It didn't seem good or fair. And he insisted that his own anger was right and appropriate!

In this final chapter of Jonah, we see the prophet sitting on a hillside, fuming because God chose to spare his enemies. This study looks at the surprising heart of God—a grace so big that it even covers those people that we think don’t deserve it.

Scripture Focus: Jonah 4:2 (NKJV)

"So he prayed to the Lord, and said, 'Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.'"

What We’re Learning Today:

  • The Prophet’s Anger: Jonah would rather die than see his enemies forgiven.
  • The Object Lesson: How God uses a simple plant and a worm to teach a profound lesson on mercy.
  • The Conclusion: God gets the last word, reminding us that His compassion is far greater than our prejudices.
