October 1998. A man named Daryl signs a six-month lease on a crumbling motor court outside of Carthage, Missouri, after a divorce and a layoff. The owner, Mrs. Haddon, warns him about the third cabin — it's not to be opened, not for any reason. But the plumbing runs under all the cabins. And at night, the pipes carry sounds that don't come from any tenant.
