October 1998. A man named Dale Marsh, driving home late from his shift at the grain mill outside Griston, Illinois, sees a scarecrow standing in a field he has passed every night for seventeen years. This time the scarecrow is wearing his coat. His boots. His father's old hat. And its face—stitched from burlap—has started to look less like a sack and more like a reflection. Dale doesn't stop. He tells himself it's a prank, that some kid dragged old clothes into the field, that the pumpkin head is just a coincidence. But the next night the scarecrow is closer to the road. And the night after that, it is standing at the edge of his gravel driveway, one straw-stuffed arm raised, palm open, as if waiting for him to take it. This is the story of what Dale found when he finally pulled the thing down, and what he saw inside the burlap lining. And why, by the end of October, he stopped looking in mirrors. #Scarecrow #GristonIllinois #October1998 #GrainMill #BurlapFace #SlowBurnHorror #MirrorHorror #StrawMan #DaleMarsh #Highway22 #Cornfield #Coincidence #Reflection #PumpkinHead #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #TwelveWaysToDieInOctober #LunaReads Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
