Hello Witches

On this episode we are looking at two different flowers you could work with that are perfect to plant during this month - cornflowers and hollyhocks.

Hollyhock stands at the edges of the home, a traditional guardian of thresholds. It carries the energy of protection and abundance.

Cornflower carries the magic of intuition, clarity and inner sight. Its vivid blue has long been linked to the third eye supporting divination and deeper perception.

In Slavic folklore we meet Habernitsa, the Cornflower Wraith. A noon spirit said to dwell in the fields. She reminds us that the spirit world often meets us in unexpected ways.

Cornflower also appears in the story of Chiron, the wise centaur, who used its healing properties after being wounded by a poisoned arrow during the chaos of Heracles’ battle with the nine-headed serpent, the Hydra.

We also look at the owl, a guide between worlds. It represents deep, earned wisdom often found in stillness. Its presence reminds us to trust what we sense, even when it cannot yet be explained.

March Witchcraft - Badger Medicine, Brigantia & Goblin Coombe

In this March episode we explore the spiritual symbolism of the badger and its place within witchcraft, folklore and the awakening energies of early spring.

We begin by looking at the difference between power animals, spirit animals and totem animals exploring how animals can appear within magical practice as guides, protectors and reflections of our own inner nature.

The badger carries strong spiritual themes of earth magic, resilience, protection and boundaries. As an animal that lives beneath the soil in deep underground setts it has long been associated with the underworld, hidden knowledge and the quiet strength required to move through darkness before returning to the light. We also explore the badger’s connections to witchcraft and British folklore.

We then look at the Celtic goddess Brigantia, a powerful deity associated with northern Britain, sovereignty and the land itself. Brigantia’s energy reflects the stirring of the earth as winter loosens its grip and spring begins to rise.

To close the episode we step into folklore with a March tale called Goblin Coombe, a mysterious wooded valley in Somerset long associated with fae legends and supernatural encounters. This story is from the book Telling the Seasons - Stories, Celebrations and Folklore around the Year by Martin Maudsley.

Hello Witches

In this episode I’m joined by astrologer Rebecca Lovatt to explore how our birth charts can act as maps of potential energy, helping us understand ourselves more deeply and move through life with greater awareness.

Rather than seeing astrology as prediction or fate, Rebecca speaks about the birth chart as a language of timing and personal design — a framework that can help us recognise our natural rhythms, strengths and challenges.

Hello Witches

Often referred to as the Mother Plant it has become one of the most sought after spiritual experiences in the modern world. Roman’s work invites us to look beyond the visions, beyond the mysticism and into something far more important - integration, nervous system safety, humility and sovereignty.

Together we explore why peak mystical experiences are not the same as embodied transformation, the difference between insight and real, lived integration and the risks of chasing ceremony after ceremony.

This conversation is not about romanticising plant medicine but about how true transformation is not found in the ceremony alone but how you choose to live once you return.

In this episode, we meet Morana, the Slavic goddess of winter, death and necessary endings. She governs the season when the land grows quiet, when the sun weakens and when life turns inward. In traditional belief, winter marked a descent toward Nav the realm of the dead and Morana presided over this liminal threshold.

We explore her role in rites including the burning or drowning of her effigy to symbolically release winter and welcome renewal. We also look at her deeper associations with dark waters, rivers and crossings — spaces long understood as boundaries between worlds. As a goddess of necessary endings Morana speaks to grief, burnout, identity shifts and the pauses that precede transformation.
