  • The Unscripted Voice: Joe Castiglione
    2026/03/21

On this episode of Unscripted with Ryan, I sit down with Joe Castiglione — the legendary radio voice of the Boston Red Sox for 42 years, a National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee, and someone who has been a mentor to me since I graduated college. Joe takes us through his journey from growing up in Hamden, Connecticut as the oldest of eight kids, to honing his craft at Colgate University with no communications courses and no instruction — just a microphone and a game to call.

We talk about what it takes to spend four decades with one franchise, the secret behind his preparation and consistency, and what Red Sox Nation has meant to him over the years. Joe shares the incredible story of being in the booth for the 1986 World Series, what it felt like to be one out away, and why he never actually saw the Buckner play live. And of course, we revisit the call — the ground ball, the stab, and the moment 86 years of waiting finally came to an end.

Whether you're a die-hard baseball fan or simply love hearing from someone who has mastered their craft over a lifetime, this one is for you.

  • Greens, Diamonds & the Unscripted Connection
    2026/03/13

What happens when two athletes who both left baseball behind end up finding each other through a mutual friend and a shared love of Vermont? Ryan sits down with Franklin Pierce sophomore and Division II golfer Sam Arnold for a conversation that covers it all — the baseball careers they both miss, the mental grind of competing at the college level in golf, and what it's like growing up in a small Vermont town with big athletic dreams.

The two also dive deep into the sports they can't stop watching — Red Sox and Mets, March Madness breakdowns, and World Baseball Classic takes. If you've ever loved a sport you had to walk away from, or wondered what college golf actually looks like behind the scenes, this one's for you.

New friendship. Real conversation. Completely unscripted.

  • Unscripted Roots: From Samoa to the Sideline
    2026/03/13

Tino Savaiinaea is back. Last time he was here, Ryan and his best friend from college broke down football. This time, they go somewhere deeper. Tino — a Paulsboro, New Jersey native with deep Samoan roots — opens up about family, culture, and what it truly means to carry your heritage with you everywhere you go.

The two also revisit one of the most defining moments of their friendship — suffering serious injuries on the same weekend before their senior season, and how that painful pivot led them both to the sideline as coaches. For Tino, that moment turned into a full-time calling. He's now in his first year as a Graduate Assistant and defensive line coach for the Franklin Pierce Ravens while pursuing his master's degree.

Two defensive linemen. One unscripted conversation about where they came from and where they're going.

  • Crime, Courts & The Unscripted Classroom
    2026/03/03

This week on Unscripted with Ryan, I sit down with Professor Leonard Crossman of the Criminal Justice Department for a conversation that goes far beyond the classroom.

With a J.D. from the Massachusetts School of Law and extensive experience connected to courts, juvenile justice, police training, and white collar crime, Professor Crossman brings real-world insight into the justice system most people only see on television.

We discuss his journey into law, the realities of criminal procedure, what people often misunderstand about the justice system, and how his professional experiences shape the way he teaches future criminal justice professionals. From juvenile justice to criminal investigation, he shares stories and lessons that highlight both the complexity and responsibility of working within the legal system.

We also explore what makes the Criminal Justice program at Franklin Pierce unique and what students can expect if they choose this path.

Thoughtful, insightful, and full of perspective — this is a different kind of Unscripted.

  • The Unscripted Mystery of Captain McGuire
    2026/02/24

In this week’s episode of Unscripted with Ryan, I sit down with Ravens Hockey captain Doug McGuire — NE10 All-Academic honoree, senior defenseman, Illinois native, and possibly the most mysterious man on campus.

We talk about his journey from Elk Grove Village to juniors with the New Jersey 87’s, and what it took to leave home and build a life in New England. Doug reflects on the grind of juniors hockey, earning the captain’s “C,” and how his upbringing — including having a first-generation Japanese mom — shaped the discipline and leadership he brings to the rink today.

Of course… it wouldn’t be Unscripted without chaos.

Doug breaks down the infamous sophomore-year goal against Post — the clutch moment, the penalty box, and what he "allegedly" did that apparently echoed across the NE10. We debate why he’s the only senior still on a full meal plan, whether he knows how to cook, what he actually does all day (since his roommates never see him), and the current state of his legendary Toyota.

From lighthouse nights and late adventures to real conversations about growth and maturity, this episode shows both sides of the captain.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Definitely Unscripted: Unhinged
    2026/02/18

    Some episodes are structured.
This is not one of them.

In Definitely Unscripted: Unhinged, Cole and I let it fly. What started as a conversation about his transfer from NEC to Franklin Pierce quickly turned into a full-on spiral — in the best way possible.

We dive into what it was really like for him leaving Texas and adjusting to life up north, the mental side of transferring programs, and the challenge of building a new identity in a new place. Cole opens up about being far from home, the culture shift, and what that transition demanded from him both on and off the ice.

But this episode is more than hockey.

We talk about how we became best friends, the legendary “frat” we created, the chaos of senior year, trying to find a job so we can take a fifth year, and the moments that made college unforgettable. It’s honest, it’s reflective, and at times… completely off the rails.

This one feels less like an interview and more like you’re sitting in the room with us.

    Definitely unscripted.
    Definitely unhinged.
    Definitely one of my favorites.

  • Built by Family, Unscripted by Sport in NFL Household
    2026/02/05

In this episode of Unscripted with Ryan, Ryan is joined by Franklin Pierce senior volleyball player Annaka Lindstrom on National Girls & Women in Sports Day. Not only a family member of multiple NFL players, including standout Chris Lindstrom... but a leader on and off the court, Annaka reflects on her journey as a student-athlete, her time as a SAAC co-chair, and balancing athletics, academics, and multiple roles across campus.

They dive into what family truly means to her, growing up in a deeply athletic household, and the unique experience of playing volleyball alongside her sister at Franklin Pierce — mirroring the path her brothers took at Boston College. Annaka also opens up about finding her own identity in sports, finishing her collegiate volleyball career, and what it means to be a woman leading in athletics today.

Thoughtful, inspiring, and completely unscripted, this episode celebrates leadership, legacy, and the power of women in sports.

  • Pressure, Pucks, and Paganini Unscripted
    2026/01/29

In this episode of Unscripted with Ryan, Ryan sits down with Franklin Pierce hockey standout Mario “Pags” Paganini — one of the nation’s top shooters entering his sophomore season. From a hat trick in the home opener to national recognition, Mario’s fast start put him on the map. But when the goals slow down and the team hits adversity, how does a shooter respond?

Ryan and Mario talk about pressure, confidence, and the mental side of scoring, along with growing up in Harrison, New York, his journey from Iona Prep and the San Diego Sabers to Pierce, and what it’s like carrying expectations as a sophomore. They also dive into team struggles, locker-room leadership, and life off the ice — including how the two first met.

Honest, reflective, and completely unscripted, this episode pulls back the curtain on what it really means to be a scorer.
