  • Devotional: No Condemnation
    2026/07/07

    By Annie

    John 8:10-11 NASB

"Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on, do not sin any longer."

When the religious leaders stood accusing the woman who committed adultery, Jesus' response was remarkable. Jesus stooped down and started writing in the dirt. His action of stooping in the dirt literally defines one interpretation of the word grace.

They all stood casting judgment, but Jesus removed himself from the accusers, stooping low. He did not participate in the crowd's judgment. Instead, he said, "Let him who has never sinned cast the first stone." And since He was the only one who had not sinned, His actions of not casting the first stone showed so much grace, so much forgiveness, and redemption. He stooped low to lift her shame.

I've actually read this passage so many times and have heard so many people preach and teach on it, but this is the first time reading this about Jesus' lowering Himself so He could raise her.

But Jesus did this a few times during His ministry, remember? He removed His outer clothing and tied a towel around his waist to wash the feet of the disciples. Let me say that again, JESUS REMOVED HIS GLORY. He took off His crown and humbled and lowered Himself to wash the feet of His disciples.

He took our place and died on the cross for each of us -- the ultimate sacrifice and ultimate act of love and humility.

God is so good, even in our despair. When we feel our lowest in guilt, shame, anxiety, depression, or loneliness, remember Jesus is meeting you right where you are -- so He can lift you up.

  • Devotional: Healing Words
    2026/06/23

    By Annie

    Proverbs 12:18 NCV

Careless words stab like a sword, but wise words bring healing.

The Bible reads: "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" {Matthew 12:34}.

Also, "Whoever guards their mouth and tongue will be kept out of trouble" {Proverbs 21:23}.

Growing up, I was always sensitive to the harsh words people spoke to me or about me. I didn't have sisters growing up, but I know that some of the neighborhood girls, classmates, and girls at school, I know they talked about me.

It wasn't until I started diving deeper into God's word that I realized that what we speak, if not well of others (which actually is blessing others), is pure evil. Gossip is the worst. Church gossip is no exception. There IS even gossip in the church, sad to say.

But I think the way in which we conduct ourselves comes with maturity.

Gossip is considered a sin. It destroys relationships, harms others, is a sign of a flawed heart, and leads to negative consequences. Gossip is NOT one of the fruits of the Spirit.

The fruits of the Spirit are: LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, KINDNESS & SELF-CONTROL.

God commands us to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).“

Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. (John 13:34-35)

Father God, forgive me of my sins. Forgive me for not speaking or thinking well of others. I pray that your Word remains deep in my heart so as not to sin against you. May my thoughts, my words, and my actions be kind and gentle toward others. May I be a small portion of how Jesus is. May my walk be a witness unto you, God.

Order my steps, guide me today, and dwell within me so that I can be the virtuous woman of God you have called me to be.
