    Andy asks Simon Bown what tools people have if they want to experience some of the consciousness-expanding benefits of a near death experience without going through a medical crisis. Simon points to out-of-body experiences, also known as astral travel, as the closest accessible practice.

    Simon explains that during an NDE, people often report being out of the body, seeing from a different vantage point, and experiencing a broader sense of awareness. Astral travel appears to touch a similar doorway, though Simon notes it may not have the same intensity or “hyper-real” quality many NDE experiencers describe.

    He also discusses the Monroe Institute, where guided methods, binaural audio, and altered-state training are used to explore out-of-body consciousness.
