this poem is about the false security american football helmets provide, on the one hand posing as our safety mechanism in a violent arena, while on the other encouraging participants to behave more recklessly, unlike they would have before.
not only that, but because of the insurance we believe to be true, and the encouragement from fans in pursuit of fame and fortune, the helmet becomes a required weapon of destruction that gives immediate benefit in success on-field, but long term ruin in mental and physical deterioration we could have never predicted.
